What colour was your racket? I now know there was a grey and also green B787 apart from the blue/ purple one I have.
I can't 100% remember but if I had to guess I would say grey and green. It definitely had the moulded handle though. I wonder why that didn't catch on...?
I think the Kennex 787 Extra came out in 1993 or 1994. I remember my brother left his behind on the subway train on his way to school. Anyhow, I got a few of them. Been using them for about 15 years. Is there anything special about this racket, not particularly. But its much more solid than any of the newer 787 rackets that came out. In Hong Kong they pretty much had a new version/colour every year. I have at least 7-10 versions. Since the Carbonpro 787 extra, the following editions have been been lighter but less powerful and durable. The original Carbonpro 787 were light and solid similar to a Yonex Cab 20. I think the 2nd edition grey one came out in 1990 or 1991. You can still get the Carbonpro 787 if you know where to look http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/196/legendts.jpg/
Hello All, I got my racket back from a club member who re-strung the B727 at 21lbs. I had a slow warm up using the racket lasyt night and tried to avoid smashes as I wanted to wear in the string!! I am very impressed with this racket, a right bargain for £1, plus £1.50 for a new grip and £10 for it being re-strung. So all in all not bad for £12.50!! Comparing the weight and playability to my Voltric 70 and 80 it's not a bad racket but I think I prefer the isometric head that is on the Yonex Voltric rackets. Still, I won some games using this racket and handles quite nice. Looking at the old string it was confirmed that catgut was used, I doubt catgut is used much these days. See image below.
I have a kennex carbon pro 717, it is a shade of blue, onepiece. is it worth much? or just old trash? i use it, it is better than some low end racquets today.
I think rackets like yours or mine it's only worth what a collector is willing to pay for it. If you like your racket keep it and use it. I don't normally look at second hand rackets but the 727 seemed such a bargain at £1.
I say use it sparingly and make a judgement call if it fits your play. Some of my friends don't like my Pro Kennex rackets because of the flex point. Fair enough.
