I'd say, deep down, Chen Long doesn't feel to proud of himself for beating a newly married man just a week plus from the wedding :D. He just doesn't want to admit it hence, devaluing his triumph.

it is customary for bride and the groom to be seated next to each other.

Let's not forget that LCW handed a straight set win over CL at the Olympics. Let's just say that LCW is more 'lenient' for this HK meeting. :D

I thought LCW was trying to break a record of winning the Malaysian Open nine times in his career? I thought this year, 2012, he matched the record of someone else winning it a total of 8 times

LCW should take more strategy in rest and play, considering his age, in order to secure quality play, like LD.But I don't understand why LD taking rest is called "hiding", yet CW taking rest is good. For the HKSS MS finals, it's a great match. LCW didn't play much below par. It's an interactive game that CL's play did limited LCW's. It was CL's patience pay off, taking good care of every shot and making fewer UF than his last match with CW. Credit to him.Being WR#1, it is understandable that every other player would be keen to neat him, so he's ready to take challenge every time on court. So CW was right to admit "no excuse".

The difference between LD and LCW is LD knows (LD) he will not be in the best of shape to compete but the main reason is he does not want to risk losing. Unlike so, LCW being the hardworking horse he is, back to his office (courts) after a celebration, straightaway jumps into work. He lost, but so what, it's ok, dare to lose - that's his motto. Besides, maybe he thinks having to pay US5k for not attending is wasteful. Mind you, LCW came from a rags to riches story. It's no big deal. Just a warm up training being acted out as a tournament, because the sparring back home is never enough or equivalent to China's.

I think there will be less people saying LD is hiding

if he really give the tournament a total miss

when he is taking a rest

rather than play then give walkover :p

LCW should starts to follow his footsteps :D

For Lin Dan who has devoted 12 years of his life to badminton, it's normal, natural and to be encouraged that he takes a well-deserved break after all that he has achieved without precedence. I believe he would agree with me if I say badminton is his life but his life isn't only badminton.

If he had feared the risk of losing then he would have retired as taking such a long rest and then come back to play would most assuredly increase his risk of losing at least in the first few months. Moreover,he's said his family now comes first. And even after his marriage because of his promise to Bayi Team to play for them in the CBSL, he has to put his honeymoon on hold for which he felt apologetic towards his wife. In fact he's just given his word to XXF to go for the honeymoon this year after the competition is over, and bring along their old folks (parents and in-laws) as well.

Maybe Lee CW should have followed suit and take a short break, a month or so will do, to enjoy his marital bliss and recharge himself. :)

I think what LD means is taking off from competitive badminton. To him having a rest could be relaxing and training, but not tournaments yet. So although he is not competing in tournaments yet, he is recuperating his mind. Same goes for LCW, training comes first and perhaps need to skip a tournament or two.

Accordingly to a Japanese badminton blog, Lee Chong Wei commented that he is not going to play the Super Series final. Any confirmation on this?
