I think he used to play with Zhang Jun for a time.......don't have to go back that far either, he was still playing MD until at least 2003 I think.
a question for Cheung and Jamesd20 (I'm not interested in bashing LYB) then: is it common for MD players to shift to XD? I know flandy limpele was once a MD player, and he switched to XD. sigh....I wonder if there is a thread on Chen Yu. It's really a bit of a loss: I always found him solid. And his win over Chen Jin in the Thai Open showed what CY could do (brilliant final!).
for Chen Yu see : http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42338&highlight=chen+yu As for Discipline shifts, the question I assume is open to others as well but my opinion is yes, it is quite common. Numerous Junior players have played in different disciplines than the ones thye were most successful in (IE Cai Yun & Peter Gade). and within their professional career it is very common for players to either play both MD/WD & XD or specialise in one.
Such blind hatred for LYB... LOL this is getting ridiculous.. we now have conspiracy theories.. hired hooligans
u r delusional again. INA MD was and still is the top in MD power. Are u saying INA's coach(s) have been fixing their MD matches? How dare u say that? what INA need is to fix their WS and WD where they weaker LOL Please send your suggestion to the PBSI, u would fit in their (PBSI) culture very well.
As weak as we are, our WS did manage to prevent 3 CHN flags to be erected in OG, which I think would be very monotonous LOL And... What is this 'culture' you're referring to, Sire?
In order to fix matches in WS and WD, INA needs to have at least 3 players/pairs in WS and WD. Not even LYB can fix matches with only 1 WD team and 1 or 2 WS players in a super series.
I wouldn't call it "blind hatred" as all this hate has started way back since LYB's army has been destroying the dreams of many other shuttlers' and fans' of winning world championship, and Olympics. On the other hand, if LCW could be named as "Datuk" for winning a silver medal at OG 08... LYB (with all his achievements)could easily be named as "King of Kings" if he coaches in Malaysia. All these hates from those boleh fans would turn into kissing LYB's rear end.
Final warning on this thread.......the title and subject is Chinese coach changes & retirees......please do not degrade it into another Match Fixing/Conspiracy/Anti CHN/INA thread.
LOL... he can certainly scare the opponent by threatening to "break their legs" though...LOL Just look at how shaky LCW's legs were in the OG 08 final.
A Canuck trying to tell INA how to fix their badminton?? Better just concetrate on ice hockey... or maybe crickets. You guys seemed to do better on crickets than you can ever hope on badminton.
Please be careful in choosing your words. Some Malaysians might think the bolded sentence as an insult toward Yang Dipertuan Agong.
Anyways, back to the topic - i think there is a thread here before saying that Gao Ling also applied as a coach. But it was not accepted before because they still need her in the team. Now that she's retired..i wonder what her new plans are.
Hmm.. ..as far as i'm concerned, love him or hate him or could-care-less abt him, LYB (or any coach) can only do so much with whatever he's given. I think it's the players who are the main cog to the success of the Chinese team. And looking at the list of (retiring) players and their up & coming young talents, i certainly wouldn't worry too much abt CHN's team. ..is there a DELETE button instead, to delete the posts?? (don't prefer to sacrifice and lock this thread)..
yes, it seem cruel but that's life. Workers get fired, retired, just like sport players everyday and we dont cry boo hoo over them. Picking on certan player or coach's action as being unfair is childish and don't have grasp of real life. It is not a surprise to see a new round of retirement or termination after 08OG, it clears the deadwood for new rejuvenation in preparation of 2012. Nature does this automatically by seasonal winter and cyclical forest fire.
yes, following on from Cooler, I'm curious....are any of the coaches not former national players? or (shock, horror), non-mainlanders (apart from Tian). I mean, one key reason Japan is doing well is because they have employed Park Joo Bong, right? Poland has similarly got a Korean coach....I just wonder if China might benefit from different kinds of coaching. The current coaching line-up seems terribly incestuous.
