Chinese Coach to Improve Indonesia's Shuttlers

    Ami Afriatni | January 05, 2011

Jakarta. A new era has begun for Indonesian badminton with the arrival of the national training camp’s first-ever foreign coach, Li Mao. Arriving in Jakarta on Wednesday, the Chinese coach wasted no time in getting down to work, heading straight to the camp in Cipayung, East Jakarta, for his official introduction to the Indonesian Badminton Association’s (PBSI’s) officials, coaches and shuttlers.

“His main job is to coach men’s and women’s singles, while the doubles teams will continue to work with national team head coach Christian Hadinata,” I Gusti Made Oka, vice president of the PBSI, said in an interview on Wednesday.

However, Oka said the PBSI had yet to finalize the details of the new coach’s contract.

At least can repeat the success of MKY in winning the bronze medal in Beijing Olympic last 3 years. bravo.....

worst case scenario is Li Mao only coaching WS, not MS

    Just think positive!!
Thats the problem with fans...they want a change..then they do not want a change!!
Even China is a bit worried as they do not have many talents like used to be as many chinese kids prefer other sports and do business...

Always give someone a chance/benefits of doubt..We do not know if Li Mao will make it better or not..Lets see! at least we are hoping..

I cant make any prediction!! Otherwise I would have won Lotto..haha

Liang Chiu Shia used to train Susi Susanti, a sister of Tjun Tjun.

Basically I heard that there could be NO PRATAMA...

    me too

Three candidates to replace Lius Pongoh as "Binpres" head are Hadi Nazri, Joko Supriyanto and Ricky Subagja.

Joko Supriyanto is Icuk's follower in everywhere. Look at on PSSI's conflict news, he sat on Icuk side when they express their opinion.
INA Badminton will be chaos if PBSI choose wrong person.

Herry IP is an experienced MD coach. He was the one who coached Tony/Candra during the Olympics 2000 victory; and also alongside Candra/Sigit in the exciting and thrilling China Open MD Final 2005 match against Eriksen/Hansen, which still lingered in my memory!

Not to mention, he was also the one alongside Kido/Hendra during one of their first significant victory (over Fu/Cai) at the China Open Final 2006. I was there that day and took them (and Luluk/Alvent) to dinner after the match.

Unfortunately, not many current players like his explosive style and that's why both Kido/Hendra and Luluk/Alvent opted to switch to be trained by Sigit Pamungkas starting from 2007. The other pairs under the charge of Herry IP were: AG/Joko, Bona/Ahsan, and Lingga/Edo.

No Offense to Ricky Subagja achievements as MD players, he is not too bright when doing TV comentatory.
I don't know if his problem is only unable to produce good wording, but based on just from his view to almost every match he commented, he didnt show good structured analysis, vision, etc.
Will be probably good MD coach, but BinPres require visionary smart and good management skill person.
