LCW was an underdog and seeded 4th in JO07 but he surprised everyone by beating CJ, LD & TH in the QF, SF & final respectively to take the title. It seemed that he had a good chance to beat LD in the final in DO07 but he fell to BCL in the SF. Just when everyone thought that LCW would have withdrawn from FO07, he went to win the title without dropping a game. LCW now is also so unpredictable. Does anyone want to make a prediction on LCW on the coming China Open?
If you read in The Star LCW might not be going to one of the remaining SS -China Open or HOng Kong Open in order to recover from his knee injury. It's a compliment actually to LCW that China consider him a threat, other than Taufik.
TH will lose to BCL in the 1st round........then BCL will again try to beat LCW in the final to avenge his loss in FO but he fails to do so because LCW has withdrawn from the tournament.revenge?? next time dude...........
it is maybe just an attempt to make Lcw preoccupied with all those compliments. be careful, chong wei..
agree! haha he must be aware n dun let all these compliments washed him away stay grounded n dun ever take lightly on any of ur opponent gambate chong wei!
CHINA will not take it lying down. i believe they will study LCW's new style and find a solution. at the very least, they know mentally LCW is a bit weak and maybe a blow to his mental preparation will be enough to derail his excellent performance during the FO. and yes, all these compliments is good for LCW but he should not take it as pressure to win all the time. hopefully this is not his peak. hopefully he will peak during beijing 2008 olympics.
My take on this is that LCW should continue to work on his weakness and strengthen his strong points. The game is evolving and LCW cannot afford to stand still. But he must ensure that his fundamentals will always remain strong. Whatever changes that LCW makes will soon be uncovered and countered by other equally skilled players in his class. To rely on his past achievements and strategies will not carry him far. But a very strong foundation based on years of hardwork will certainly endear him much longer. But this makes the game much more interesting to watch as players will have to continually find solutions to achieve their targets.
AGREE. LCW is weak at some points but can dominate the match if he gets his opponent in his rhythm. In the new game plan of LCW, it's really good as he got the FO title but he can't keep this same game plan for a long time and LD will surely crash him after knowing LCW strategy. "makes the game more interesting"? It will be....
Chance for Chong Wei to make it two-in-a-row NST Online » Sport 2007/11/07 Badminton: Chance for Chong Wei to make it two-in-a-row By : Christopher Raj Email to friend Print article WORLD No 2 Lee Choong Wei will be looking for another big win in the China Open on Nov 20-25. Chong Wei, who beat Bao Chunlai 21-11, 21-14 in the French Open last week, is also entered for the Hong Kong Open on Nov 27-Dec 2. Malaysia's top singles player will then compete in Super Series Finals in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 18-23 where he will aim to deny World No 1 Lin Dan of China yet another major title. The other single players who will be competing in China and Hong Kong are Hafiz Hashim, Wong Choon Hann, Yeoh Kay Bin, Kuan Beng Hong and Roslin Hashim. Lee Tsuen Seng will only compete in the Hong Kong Open. For the men's doubles BAM has entered Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, who fell in the French Open quarter-finals, and will have a chance to redeem themselves in China and Hong Kong. Kien Keat-Boon Heong, who won the Denmark Open for their fourth super series crown, will surely be wanting a win to boost their standings and the two tournaments provide them with golden opportunities. French Open losing finalists Lee Wan Wah-Choong Tan Fook will accompany Kien Keat-Boon Heong to both competitions. The other doubles pairs entered are Mohd Fairuzizuan Tazari-Mohd Zakry Latif, Ong Soon Hock-Tan Bin Shen and Chew Choon Eng-Hong Chieng Hun, while Mak Hee Chun-Lim Khim Wah and Tan Wee Kiong-Mohd Lufti Zaim will only compete in the Hong Kong Open. National No 1 women's singles Wong Mew Choo will play in both events while Julia Wong will only compete in the China Open. Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui, who gained a tremendous boost when they toppled World No 1 Zhang Yawen-Wei Yili of China in the first round of the women's doubles in Denmark, have been entered as well.
LCW seldom win back to back titles. but who knows, maybe with the new style and hopefully fully recovered knee injury, he could make it happen. all this talk about his new style makes me wanna really find the finals match between him and BCL during the FO.

Base on the current form of LCW,he is strong enough to overcome TH's attacks but to defeat LD in every tournament is a bit hard..LD's skill is superb plus his mentality is better LCW.. I hope his new game plan n strategies can help him to do well in every tournament n OG..
what is gambate winnie? Lcw's new style.he didnt use the physical power but mind power. maybe he has learned from our respected senior,wch..maybe
you're right about LD. but now that LCW is in a different form, maybe they'll be a big difference when LCW and LD meet again.
remember in JO, LCW had given LD a tough time........i give the match between them 55:45 to LCW after watching the NEW LCW. just pray that both of them don't lose in early rounds and give us a real match of the titans in the final, a preview of the upcoming SS final.
Consistently performing at the top level is what separate LD and LCW. The points they gain for the world ranking show quite a different in NUMBERS.
