There was a typo in the previous title thread (Day 1 should be 19 Feb ) Matches will start at 9am local time, with 3 sessions being played (morning, afternoon at 2pm and evening at 6:30pm). Again, no surprises for today's ties. The interesting ones will be tomorrow's. Men's Team: Malaysia bt Philippines -- expect Mohd Arif Latif and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif to feature in today's 2 "easy" ties. Chinese Taipei bt Cambodia Korea bt Singapore -- if Hendri Kurniawan Saputra is injured, absolutely no fight! Kendrick Lee might play for a rubber set with Park Sung Hwan. Thailand bt Sri Lanka Hong Kong bt Macau Chinese Taipei bt Philippines -- the second match of the day for the CT guys. Malaysia vs Cambodia -- ditto for the MAS team. India vs Pakistan Women's Team: Thailand bt Sri Lanka Singapore bt Cambodia Hong Kong bt Vietnam
Hmmm... according to the line up in Tournament Software, MAS has gone for the full monty, and fielded it's strongest possible combination.
If I were to decide, I would field a stronger team now and a weaker team in the evening match v Cambodia. I would want a stronger team for the tie against Chinese Taipei tomorrow (at 2 pm).
Wise choise. The top players need to play at least a game to warm them up before the matches against CT (esp the 2 doubles pair). MD1: Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong vs Tsai Chia-Hsin/Hu Chung-Hsien MD2: Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah vs Fang Chieh-Min/Lee Sheng-Mu -- two very intriguing ties, given that Koo/Tan have lost to Tsai/Hu and Fang/Lee are on a steady rise in the past few mths. In the unthinkable circumstances that both doubles lost , the three Singles players should wrap up the tie: Lee Chong Wei vs Hsieh Yu-Hsing, Wong Choong Hann vs Liao Sheng-Shiun, Mohd Hafiz Hashim or Mohd Arif Latif vs CT's third Singles.
Update: MAS 1 PHI 0 Lee Chong Wei over Mendez Ralph Ian 21-6 21-8 0:17 TPE 1 CAM 0 Hsieh Yu Hsing over Nuon Sophorn 21-7 21-8 0:17 THA 1 SRI 0 Ponsana Salakjit over Hettiarachchige Renu Chandrika 21-5 21-9 0:22
The results : Thomas Cup Group A -- MAS beat PHI 5-0 ; TPE beat Cambodia 5-0 Uber Cup Group W -- THA beat Srilanka 5-0 MAS,TPE and THA create white wash at their premiere performance in this TUC 2008 preliminary.
SIN doest not field Kenderick Lee for MS in the match again KOREA , instead he was name in the MD1 . Pretty strange strategy. They might be given a white-washed by KOREA 5-0
The early afternoon matches will have just started. Again, not much of interest. Even the KOR v SIN match could be a wipeout.
In TC: KOR 1 SIN 0 Park Sung Hwan over Chen Yong Zhao Ashton 21-10 19-21 21-11. Good effort by Ashton to push PSH to 3 games THA 1 SRI 0 Ponsana Boonsak over Karunaratne Niluka 21-9 21-1 HK 1 MAC 0 Chan Yan Kit over Lam Chi Man 21-6 29-27 In UC: SIN 3 CAM 0 (it's over already!) Xing Aiying over Noeuv Sodany 21-1 21-3 Gu Juan over Chhuon Chay Ry 21-2 21-8 Zhang Beiwen over Keo Pich Chanravy 21-1 21-3
Msia won 3-0 over Cambodia in MS. http://tournamentsoftware.com/sport/teammatch.aspx?id=19467&match=14 Even Arif only took 15 min to win, I never heard of Cambodia players, dunno how good they are.
Hopefully Malaysia will take it seriously tomorrow against Chinese Taipei because our MD lost to them before.I think not many peoples know Cambodia players because they rarely compete in big tournamets.
Most probably they will field strongest line-up for match with Taiwan tomm. like today's match with Philipines. It'll be good for KKK/TBH's to win to avenge their loss, esp for TBH, to regain his confidence. TC Chinese taipei/Taiwan now leading 1-0 over Philipines India leading 2-0 over Pakistan Uber C Hong Kong leading 2-0 over hosts Vietnam
To Jessica Dear Jessica, I agreed with you that we need to play well against Chinese Taipei in order to qualify for the place in the final. Let's pray for the succeed of our players. Malaysia Boleh! From: Ayu
Dear Malaysian BC Dear members, Malaysia leads 4-0. KKK & TBH won in just 11 mins. It is simply like training to them. Tomorrow will be their real challenge. Best Regards: Ayu
