ya i agree..its more likely caused by Kido's injury..they're still a great player for me..they have strong will and determination to win...i hope kido will get better soon and not experiencing any injury in the future
agreee i'm sure they go far in WC 2009 will they participate in the Phillipines Open GP ??? it's the last prep before WC right??
So sorry to know Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan have to withdraw from WC........because of MK's unstable blood pressure,...so just hope a speedy recovery for MK.......
You know what ..... Hendra S. should find new partner... honestly in my opinion, kido does not help a lot in the game... problem is hendra has difficulty to adapt with new partner like we've seen in thomas cup , etc. not enough time for him to play with new partner... Kido ???? find new partner too... Hendra has a great future as a double player... I'm sad for hendra...
I am wondering why Markis Kido, as a pro player still had a hypertension? I believe he is not overweight and has a regular exercise and for sure maintain his health and food. I thought this hypertension happens only on people who never do exercise or eat a lot. It's just a bad news for Hendra and Markis... I hope Markis recovers soon...
He did.. ..according to news report, he ate A LOT of shellfish...Check out the article in the 2009 World Championships's "News" thread..
According to Kompas website, the stocky Markis has high blood pressure and had even fainted once during physical training. Following advice from coach Sigit Pamungkas, Markis has now been ruled out from the world meet, which will begin in Hyderabad, India, on Monday. On Wednesday, it was also confirmed that the All-Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) had notified the Badminton World Federation (BWF) of Markis-Hendra’s withdrawal. This is not the first time that Markis has faced such a setback. He was laid low by a knee injury and even took time off from training following the death of his father early this year. news article from here>> http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2009/8/7/sports/4470682&sec=sports
Markis might be still not in because of that (his father passway, knee injury, etc). But I really feel sorry to Hendra that cannot join in the big events. I think right now he is so frustrated because of it. PBSI must search another player for Hendra ASAP. Anyway, I still prefer Hendra paired with Markis if Markis still have motivation in this sport. Anyway, I wish the best for them.
<sigh> Cant watch them in action. This is 1st time though I hear seafood/shellfish can aggravate high blood pressure.
Real shame. IMO when these two are at their best, they are indeed the best doubles pair in the world. In other words, true Olympic Champions.
what happened with markis kido ??? he didnt participate in WC ... and their achivement deacrase than two years later
Sad news : Courtesy of The Star : Olympic champs may boycott Paris SINGAPORE: Indonesia’s Olympic and former world badminton doubles champion Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan are threatening to boycott this month’s World Championships in Paris over a row with their national federation. The duo, ranked second in the world, are upset because the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) failed to enter them in the China Masters, a leg of the lucrative Super Series tour. “If we can’t play, then we won’t represent our country in the world meet,” Markis told the Jakarta Globe. “In our contract with our sponsor, the worlds is not a mandatory event but the China Masters is. “We were ready to play in Paris and represent our country. In fact, we were going to use our own money just to get there. But I think we have to think things over now.” The PBSI said the 2007 world champions had failed to file the proper paperwork and therefore could not be entered for the China Masters, which takes place from Sept 14-19. The World Championships take place in Paris from Aug 23-29. — Reuters
