CPS not confident on his serve still... especially at crucial points. That might have been that flick serve that cost them the match. Anyway, at least they managed to stand on the podium... unlike the others who were sent here. Congratulations.
Another Malaysia pair losing in 3 sets despite starting so well in the first set (but end up losing in the first set). I think the major problem with young Malaysians (Y generation) is they spent most of thier life/time on laptop, facebook, iphone, ipad...and they solve their real life problems through these channels..So when come to the real challenge and when pressure pile up , they just can't cope with it..
Now it is giant killer Han Li versus cutie Bae Youn Joo. Han had to play 6 matches (2 qualifying) before arriving to the finals. Bae #5 had only to play 4 matches. Will Bae be able to capitalize? But the great Han has already advanced to 8-2 with some very nice shots including this cross court net shot which Bae struggled to retrieve without success. Han is ahead now 11-3 at the interval.
Her racket control is fanstatic ! This is her first oversea tournament this year. Just wonder how many world class female players China has...
Very quickly Han had made it to 14-6 with her reverse slice shots and good smash placements. Han is also human enough to hit unforced errors but just like others I'm really impressed with her repertoire of strokes, court agility and clever tactics. But maybe fatigue is catching up on her altough G1 belongs to her. Now 19-11.
She played in Korea GPG a few months ago. SHe was amazing then. Her racket control is like Taufik's. Excellent use of wrist and fingers. very deceptive.
I'm not referring to this particular pair. For this tournament only (of course many other tournament as well) there are so many Malaysia players/pairs that start well but end up losing especially at the decisive 3rd set ... CKB, CWF, Lim KW/GVS, Ah How/Ah Siang, Chan/Goh.....
Datuk LCW should get some inspiration from this young girl's racket control .... Definitely will help him in OG 12...
A very long rally just ended with Han winning with a net shot. But Bae is now playing much better making Han work hard for her points. But Bae made a few unforced errors, like hitting long and hitting into the net. At interval Han leads 11-5.
Han Li's stamina seems to have a bit of a problem. her footwork is not very efficient. but fortunately, her skill is way above Bae's.
Seems to me Han Li's style resembles WSX but without the latter's weakness of no killer smash. She's on the way to winning this title, her first big break. China has another rising star so soon after LXR's ascendancy to super stardom!
