i'm a big fan of jens eriksen - especially his deception at the net.. and his height and reach mean he intercepts loads.. pretty good for a guy that is almost 40!
The Vanguard For speed and intimidation, Cai Yun For skill and athleticism, Koo Kien Keat For patience and finesse, Tony Gunawan For sheer presence and reach, Jens Eriksen For placement and alertness, Hendra Setiawan For killer deception, style and "Wow! Wow! Wow!", Sigit Budiarto
If it's the best frontmen in MD ever, I would vote for Sigit. If it's currently then it's kind of tough. However I would say the top 3 would be Cai Yun, Hendra Setiawan and Koo Ken Keat. All of them are very fast at the net and can enforce in the back as well.
These 6 front players are indeed the best ones. But personally i still think tony gunawan is the best among them. Reason being; him winning WC MD title with howard bach in 2005, especially playing against candra/sigit in the final.
The best front players at all timeon my opinion) - Christian Hadinata - Sigit Budiarto - Tony Gunawan - Rexy Mainaky
Tony's nickname for frontman is VIPER...........in his heyday, he is the best one along with Sigit...
Agree. Sigit at his best is simply unbelievable. A combination of superb physique, superb anticipation, and superb technique/touch. I have to say I like Setiawan's style most, seemingly effortless yet lightning fast and lethal.
I wonder what would happen if they had a chance to play against each other (age and health being the same of course)?????
Tony Gunawan... if you don't believe me, just simply watch the match between him and Howard vs Fu/Cai in the Cop. Masters 05 final... the 1st point of the 1st game showed you how good Tony Gunawan really is.
Watch the first 8 points. Tony was like superman. No matter what Cai and Fu did, the shuttle just could not pass Tony. Unfortunately he was already too old to stay at that level, otherwise the first game would be a massacre to Cai/Fu.
kkk is among the best frontmen ever! even jens eriksen said kkk was the big reason for their lost in Denmark Open 2006... "kien kiat made the difference", he said..if i'm not mistaken...
I would say KDM as well. Super killing block with his height, and his speed is just incredible. He is almost like a wall in the front. Even RKM was doing alot of back court to have KDM in the front while playing mix to setup for the strongest formation. And for current player I would vote Setiawan. Tony is old now and I think he is missing the power to finish it off, KKK is fast but he is unstable and not performing sometimes.
