I don't think they're so much lucky, as the format allows them to be so lucky Afterall, if we played original elimination, DEN pair would be out to JAP after the first day/round, no?
OT: almost the same kind of upsets are happening in Table-Tennis, GER Timo Boll, tipped to win a medal, was bundled out by unfancied 15th seed ROM Adrian Crisan, JAP's best hope Jun Mizutani ousted by 13th seed Danish Michael Maze, and KOR's Oh Sang Eun downed by 12th seed Kishikawa of JAP. Indeed, the Olympics make accidental heroes of some and sad flops of quite a few.
So the scenario are: MM/SS win WXL/YY winv(Not 100% sure, but it's unlikely the Kor cause an upset) Ha/KMJ vs GP/MJ is interesting to watch. MM/SS lose Then there's two scenario: WXL/YY lose Ha/KMJ vs GP/MJ, both trying to lose in the match (Not interesting) WXL/YY failed to lose Ha/KMJ vs GP/MJ >> Depend on the Kor strategy. All Kor QF? Or let one trying to play the giant? But even if they trying to win, GP/MJ not gonna let that easy.
If China decided to risk and tried to sepoarate their 2 pairs and Korea try to foil it. That would be fun for both teams tried to lose but not been disqualified
i think CHN would benefit from the seeds switching top and bottom, because now the bottom seems tougher than the top, which would make sense to have a stronger team against them on the bottom (#1) vs having to face each other (albeit easy semi). This cannot happen in MD because FHF/CY can't risk playing the danes and the koreans so early, and in a row, vs much better to take the easier quarterfinals. That is... if you believe this match fixing to be the case =] That would be the most logical strategy. The media would have a "field day" on the amount of "upsets"!
Yippy is the few WS player that jump smash and that too on most of the lifts. The other one is MAS's Tee.
I had said earlier ....Cai - Fu vs Chai Guo....= well what do you think Who is so crazy to let Cai-Fu face Boe/Mogensen so early in the QF. That is a sudden death match. Even Boe/Mogensen wouldnt want to stay 2nd and face Cai-Fu, so they had to beat Chai - Guo. Very likely to be Chai - Guo final match in QF = exhibition match. As for WD, i agree. Switch the two seeds between halves because the bottom one is harder with Ha/Kim and Pedersen/Juhl around. That would boost their chances of winning two medals.
Okay, I now focus on All England Final rematch XD now. Both Ahmad/Natsir and Laybourn/Juhl show a treat to Zhang/Zhao.
I dont want Towi/Natsir to meet China so early. They should beat Laybourn. However, against German pair who upset them in the All England...hmmm hard to say...
This chamber-exchange salvo sounds much more logical to take. Quite interesting because if it's true, it will cause the entire uproars to the rest of pairs just imagine all the unforeseeable upsets following the salvo This evening outcome will prop or down your proposition OT: TT-WS: the teenager cutie, Kasumi ISHIKAWA (JPN) just defeated (SIN) WANG Yuegu 4-1 in a relatively easy QF match
CMIIW jpn wd in group b still go through as runner-up if they lost to tpe and ind win, right? if thats the case will jpn do that to avoid chn in the qf
And in Mix, I really hope Tontowi/Natsir top the group C and face most likely Chen Xu/Ma Jin (Exept Robert/Nadiezka play unexceptionally). Based on what I saw before matches in this Olympic, Tontowi/Natsir will beat the Chn pair and Natsir will have the 2nd chance on getting gold.
Yes based on current form, Mixed Doubles gold should go to Indonesia. Chinese pairs are not strong. Zhao Yunlei played poorly in mixed. Only teams that could ruin Indonesia's hope are european pairs.
