Lazy I think you crossed Whitestone with College Pt. I live in Whitestone which is south of the highway and College P is north of it...

College Pt which is mostly a lower-middle class neighborhood. Where CP Badminton located is one of the few industrial blocks in the neighborhood. I wouldn't say it is the safest area but it is definitely not a bad neighborhood at all. It is quiet, that's about it...:D

The closest bus stop for the Q65 s on College Pt Blvd at 20th Avenue, which is about 3 blocks away from 119th Street and half a block away from the club. Definitely not too long of a walk. The ride is only about 10-15 minutes but the most painful is the wait the buses do not run on a very, very frequent schdule...

Happy_Cdn, for a guy your size, you will be 99% safe in the area.
As I stated in the previous post, the area is not bad.
Call them up if you need more detail direction by bus.
BTW, why don't you go along side Serena?

Lost Batallion Hall NYC Recreation Center

I'm planning on going to Lost Battalion Hall NYC Recreation Center this Tuesday, November 17. It will be my first time there. I'm an intermediate player who doesn't have a partner. Anyone want to pair up with me just for that night, and show me the ropes of the place? Thanks = )

From Brooklyn to Rego Park? Wow, quite a trip I have to say. Hope you have fun!

I believe there are a few local brooklyn clubs around your area, each charge around $10-15 per session. Consider the time and transportation cost, you might want to consider as well.

I used to play there (that was five years ago). Not sure if it exists any more. Some of the people I used to play with there appear to be playing at Miller Place High School.

You're kidding...on the way from SB to Brooklyn, there are a bunch of places in between that you can play...

    - the first two are Commack HS/East Northport HS (I think these are still in operation)
    - badminton in Queens at Francis Lewis HS/John Bowne HS/Jamaica HS/NY Badminton Center/CP Badminton (FLHS and JBHS are closed at the moment)

NYBC and CPB are dedicated facilities, so they play pretty much all day every day.

It was at John Dewey High School, $10 from 7pm to 11pm. The floor was ok, the court lines were very confusing though, they used different colors and there's no single court lines. Each court was very close to each other. But all in all it's not too bad except for the driving part....

Yeah, drive on belt pkwy during rush hour is definitely not fun. Well, JDHS gym is just like most of the school gym converted badminton courts in any club, with different lines for all kinda sports, and relatively small space in between courts. Guess it's just a matter of get used to it. At least, their facility (especially the parking lot) is above the average, for school gym standard. :-D

Brooklyn Badminton (John Dewey HS) is open on Sat 1/1

As the title says, Brooklyn Badminton (John Dewey HS) will open on Sat 1/1 from 9:30 to 4pm. We were told that the school did a good job for snow removal, therefore, parking inside the parking lot should be a non-issue. For more information, please check www.brooklynbadminton.com :)

    Poona Badminton Club

I played couple of times at Poona Badminton Club http://poonabadmintonclubnyc.com/.
Pretty nice gym and they have a cool birdie feeder machine.
There are not many players in this newly started club. However this means that you can play as many games as you want.
Hope to see you guys there soon!
