Yes, I tend to agree. The sweet spot felt a little smaller than usual but as you said, it could make me a better player given that I would have to focus a little more on hitting quality shots. So, perhaps with a lower tension, I'll gain a little more of a sweet spot. Another thing that I noticed was that the weight of the racket was lighter as well which could be due to the thinness of the 62. I'm thinking of trying the 67 version to give some weight back to the racket. I'm still experimenting....FYI, I normally play with BG-80 at 26.5 x 28.5.
All ECP tension. This instance, 28lbs. which plays like BG65 at 31-32lbs. It lasted 2+ weeks no mishits, little smashing. Have tried ZM62 many times (over 30) from 20-30lbs. If at 24 or higher, mishit and it's gone. But if you hit accurately, durability is OK.
Very thin strings that string and feel tight can also break from hitting at the feathers, especially against the sharp edges of the feather. This is especially true if you use wrist snap at speed. Also worn shuttles are especially dangerous on ZM62.
Survived 2 session with loads of hard smashing on my T2s. But there was instance where i broke it in 5 mins also because of mishit. As the rest say, do not mishit. And do string lower than normal as it is really tight. This is not a rather subjective opinion as you can see it is quite consistent with all the findings of members.
Hey guys, just wanted to chime in with my ZM 62/67 usage over the past couple of months. First, I absolutely LOVE BG80 but I hate having to restring it every 3 months due to the string fraying in the center. I love the sound, the feel, almost everything about BG80. I usually have my AT900T strung at 24x26. Told my stringer and he recommended that I try ZM67. I picked up a NS9900 so I decided to try some ZM67 over the 62 because I was afraid of it popping. Had it strung at 26lbs but I had some bad grommets so the ZM67 popped after a week. No worries, took it back and my stringer really wants me to try ZM62 so he did a ZM62/67 combo at 26lbs. 62 on the crosses, 67 mains. I've played twice with it and boy, it's pretty sweet. It's super tight but power is still there. So if anyone has access to both, I'd recommend trying this combo. After reading a couple of pages, I'm thinking next time I'll do 67 @ 26lbs and the 62 @ 24lbs since it plays stiffer but so far so good! Lovin' it big time!
I wouldnt recommend this because of the difference in the two strings' elasticity/dynamic stiffness properties. The thinner string is stiffer at the same tension.
You might not recommend it, but honestly, if he likes it, he likes it. That's what really matters in the end. I do 67 @ 24 for mains, 62 @ 26.5 for crosses. I'm sure you definitely don't recommend it, but because I love how it plays, Im going to stick with it. Orgasmerator, go ahead and keep playing with your string combo. As long as you like it
So, I restrung my AT 700P at 24 x 26 with Zymax 62 and it broke in one hour with no mishits. The tension felt strong as if it were 29 lbs. So, for this third attempt, I'm going to try 23 x 25. As I said earlier, I like the overall feel of the string but durability is a concern. FYI, I also use Ashaway's Flex 21 Micro and its durability has not been a concern. For me, the string has great feel and has lasted 1 month. I'll keep experimenting with the tension on the Zymax until I find the best one that fits me.
I was curious to the dual string as well. If it works in tennis, it should work even better in badminton, no? Instead of thinking negatively, I saw it as having the durability of the 67 without sacrificing anything since the 62 is there to provide as well. Still going strong since my last post.
Very thin strings like the ZM62 are easy to snap even with the first shot. This is because feathers, unlike plastics, do have sharp edges (insofar as thin strings are concerned), and any shots shots taken lower than the norm have a higher risk of actually "cutting" the strings. For players who do not not mishit or who take shots at the highest point, string breakage is reduced. If shots are taken lower than optimal you tend to hit more of the feathers instead of the base.
I been using my Zymax 62 white 25lbs on my T2 for 4 to 5 sessions and it is still going strong. However, i do notice that it does drop tension after some use. Just that it is not as significant as other strings. But definitely not like what the package claims. Another thing i noticed was that compare to other string freshly strung, 62 is the most crisp string i ever tried and it is really hard like a board. I was wondering if any other players also observe the tension loss too.
I tried the ZM62 twice on my reackets, not managed to observe tension loss on the ZM62 due to the fact they both only lasted up to an hour before snapping, despite changing the grommets prior to stringing. My fault though, for daring to try them out in the middle of winter!
I think the whole thing about tension loss is because you snap it so fast you won't have a chance to feel the tension loss. LOL
Seems like if you're going to use Zy62 as a go-to you either need to a) be a stringer yourself, or b) live next door to one I'm going back on it this week to try it again, but my previous foray gave me only positive impressions: it's easy (in fact, the easiest) to string with, outrageous power, excellent control and it's not particularly expensive. Oh, and it held tension brilliantly.
