that tafuik fella was never ranked as no.1.the highest he got was no.2 in 2000(maybe no.3before the olympics).when he reached the ae final,he was outside of top10 in ranking.any big diehard taufik fan in heah should be able to confirm.

yeaa that's what i thought. and I thought he was the number 3 seed for 2000 olympics. CAuse he lost to ji xinpeng earlier in the competition. Peter Gade was first seed i think. w/e I don't know my facts...

Huh?!? He was! Not for long, but yes, he was World #1 for a couple of weeks [at least]!

I'm not a big diehard Taufik fan, but I saw in the BWF ranking that Taufik was once the world #1. Ok, probably not at the end of the year, but for several weeks, he was! :)

Yes, Taufik was ranked no.1 for a couple of weeks..

    - In that case, Wikipedia needs to update the info on Taufik.:p
    - Upon checking, he was World #1 for a couple of weeks (toward the end of August 2000):
    http://old.internationalbadminton.org/histranking.asp?rankno=247&id=1
    http://old.internationalbadminton.org/histranking.asp?rankno=246&id=1
    - Yes, he was seeded as no.1 going into the 2000 OG; they probably took the seeding from this WR:
    http://old.internationalbadminton.org/histranking.asp?rankno=247&id=1.

However, for some reason, the MS WR points got messed up starting the 1st week of September 2000. Thus, showing Taufik as not the WR#1 during the Olympics.
*The 2000 OG lasted from Sep. 16 til Oct. 1, 2000.

lol.. i think its always hard for players like TH and LD. After achieving so much at such a young age. When you are at the top, it will always be hard to stay there as everyone is tryiig/aiming to take you down. However, thats not to say that the players that beat them have no pressure also, as they work hard too.

I have one question, I saw that in recent matches Taufik has got a young bench coach behind him. I want to know where Mulyo Handoyo is?
If someone knows please tell me.

Well, INA was the dominant force in MS and MD between Rudy Hartono and Christian-Ade Chandra's All England titles in 1972 up until INA's 1984 Thomas Cup title.... Won 4 Thomas Cups in the process.

China took over between 1985-1991... They won 3 Thomas Cups during those years...

Later, between INA's Olympic success in 1992 until INA's Thomas Cup loss in 2004, we were again the dominant world force in MS and MD... Won 5 more Thomas Cups...

China took over after that... until today... 3 Thomas Cups and counting... :p

So, maybe around 2012 - 2024 we shall see INA's next dominant era... We have more MD potential than CHN for that era... As for MS, I only see Chen Long as someone who can continue the reign of Lin Dan-Bao Chunlai etc.

We'll see those World Junior Champions (Wang Zhengming and Tian Houwei) performance at 'senior' international tournaments whether they're really potential or not;)

That's their own fault... :p They un-invited themselves to All England and Thomas Cup [that were there even before the existence of Chinese badminton]... INA never ran away from competition that could have proved who were the best. For whatever reason, CHN did...
