Bring the best from players ? But only perform well in the Olympics and then deliver no results from other badminton tournaments like WC and SS.

This is more or less called Tournament Luck.

What's unfair? Not preparing for your unknown opponent is unfair? Okay, point taken.

So who gives a **** that Niluka won't perform in Super Series? (he doesn't even compete in them) What we know and care is that he just took out Kenichi Tago in the group stage of the Olympics! :D

Fisher/Cristina vs Mateusk/ Zieba 21-9, 14-21 going to rubber set

i think Poland's pair will take this game, zieba is really good in the front court of the net

Kindly hold your horses, both of you. It's just normal human reaction albeit a little overboard for some to get too carried away.

Sri Lanka has her triumphant day,be sympathetic to the JPN fans to vent their spleen a little,no harm done, the winner can afford to be magnanimous, right? Let's get it over with, a fact is a fact, a win is a win.Peace and loving-kindness.:)

If that is the case, every tournament can be tournament of "luck". Upsets are what makes sports interesting.

    No upsets are boring

It's just sad to see promising soon-to-be great player like Tago lose to an unknown player in a one-off situation.

And what's next, I know Tago will do very well in Super Series because he proven it from time and time again.

Fine Tago's loss mourning/ranting is over. Moving forward.

LD was very lucky he didn't get KARUNARATNE Niluka in the draw for he may suffer the same fate as KT.

Japan likes defending... their defence is good, but if you keep defending you'll eventually be broken

Phew, even my top pick for XD, Fischer/Pedersen is struggling against the unfancied Polish pair. This one-in-four-year event is really one of kind.

Luckily we don't have to wait every four years to determine who is the best, there is the World Championships, the Superseries and SS Premiers, for example, just as Tennis has its Grand Slams. But,admittedly, the Olympics despite not being the strongest tournament is very special, has a logic of its own,the most coveted title making and breaking some heroes and some flops - that's the tears and joys, the dramas and wonders that make the Olympics unique.

Peace, don't wish to start an argument here, just my 2-cents.:) Let's continue to enjoy the games.

:D dang, just learning of this result! Had actually momentarily considered pawing it on anticipation Tago would be half-assing the group stage ... Also just learning the group only consists of two :p

... Some people acting like it's free travel and lodging to Super Series events without considering the financial situation of small federations ...
