hi .. i bought a Ti-10 (3rd gen purple one) quite some time ago 3UG5
played with it for a few weeks ... liked it very much so i went bought another one .. same 3rd gen model with same specs 3UG5

i had both rackets' original yonex grip removed and replaced with karakal super PU replacement .. however the karakal grips were of different colours as for me to easier distinguish which racket is which :p

the prob lies here .. seeing both rackets should be identical ... everything about them should be identical rite ??
the 1st Ti-10 that i have has its specs in the sticker 3UG5 form while my 2nd Ti-10 has the specs engraved into the cone ...

i felt that the grip size differs despite using the same karakal super PU ... the one with the engraved specs felt significantly bigger than the other one with stickered specs ... i have not measured the grips with any measuring instruments yet .. i have asked a few other players to hold and "size" up the grips ... all said the same as i felt

*note the thicker/bigger feeling karakal was black while the other was purple .. gonna try wrapping both up in purple next to see if there is any difference

    2 things possible ..
#1 .. karakal super PU QC in thickness not good
#2 .. YY QC in their handle sizes not good

any of u guys faced this b4 ??

i could be completely wrong, but i thought the U and G were always on a sticker on the cone? O.O thats how its been for my racquets at least...i know a friend who actually shaves the grip because he likes it SUPER small...if u find worst comes to worst, thats an alternative u can consider...

The newer (made later part of 2008) Yonex rackets have engraved weight and grip sizes.

allanQ, can you post up some photos of your rackets?

How you overlap your overgrip will also affect your grip size.

Maybe the way the grip wrapped is different between the two racket.

i've never seen yonex engraving the specs into the cone.
then again, i haven't bought a brand new yonex recently, which is probably why.
can i ask though, i grip my racquets real high, past the cone and sometimes the grip actually rips out the paint on the cone, this includes the cone code, has this happened to anyone else?

allanQ: your both rackets are genuine, no worry. About grip size, it is best to strip it naked down to wood and measure them for accuracy. For quick shot - just grip & feel it again :)

its not counterfeit as the new rackets have this feature. in any case (if Yonex had not done this previously), why would counterfeiters go the extra mile in doing this when a sticker is much simpler than to engrave?

Yes - that has happened to my old AT500, hence from then onwards I always wrap a small length of overgrip (without sticky backs) over the cone prior to wrapping the main grip (towel or PU with sticky backs) on.

Interesting that yonex now laser engraves the specs on! Makes sense I suppose!

I heard that YONEX increased the size of a G5 slightly sometime recently...perhaps see what the date codes are??

YY doing that ?? then its no wonder my newer Ti-10 feels like it has a significantly bigger handle ..
but it would be silly for them to change something has been so standardised over the years ..

yeah, i've taken to putting on a layer of salotape before i put my grips on.
but that was before i discovered the flaw, anyways, a few of my yonexes now have no paint or serials on the code.
gonna make it difficult to sell in the future if i need to prove their authenticity.

If you have some "before" pictures, it won't be too bad.
