. After the 2012 Thomas Cup Preliminary tournaments held last week, we have these 10 finalists; 1. China 2. Japan 3. Malaysia 4. Indonesia 5. Korea 6. Denmark 7. Germany 8. England 9. Russia 10. New Zealand Sadly, my Australian team missed out. I think China will retain as the 2012 Thomas Cup title holder. .
. kwun has started a poll for "Who will win the 2012 Thomas Cup?"; http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/111975-Who-will-win-the-2012-Thomas-Cup .
Many BCers are already having their say in this thread . Hahaha...... Many BCers are already having their say in this thread; http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...2012-Thomas-amp-Uber-Cups-Comments-on-matches .
It is not a bad thing to find out the problems they have to work on in the earlier rounds. They have to thank Indonesia and Germany team to give them a good fight to prepare for the semifinal. Of course anything can happen, I still believe that this team can win back the UC. They have to respect their opponents fully in both semifinal and final and beat them one by one.
The Chinese ladies knew very little about these young unknown players but there are tons on videos on the Chinese ladies available which can be studied. The Chinese ladies struggled in the first game but ended up settle down and beat them badly in the rubber game. I don't think there is anything needed to be worried.
I don't think so. Maybe the Chinese are under pressure to perform. During INA-CHN tie, Nitya is not a new player and Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang still find it difficult to beat them. I hope today WYH will lose to Ratchanok and make it difficult for LYB to choose who to pick for Olympic because noone is certain of Olympic gold
WYH won't lost to Ratchanok. She could handle pressure much better than two years ago. As for Olympic, I am nearly 100% sure WSX is the one who is going to stay in China eventually. WSX still have a lot of work to do on her attacking games prior to next olympics. As for London olympics gold, I think it will be between WYH and LXR. The match between them at Asian Championship Final was classic and really high quality badminton.
Out of form? Last time i checked they white washed every teams in sight. What will happen when they are 'in form'? Brilliant white wash?
Looks like another white wash in SF. Out of form is because they did not trash those rank outside top 10 by straight set under 15 Expectation is very high for the China women
A white wash is not a whitewash Either way, Korea's not going to have it easy. I don't really mind, myself, but I want to see some good matches on Saturday.
as to date, just after the SF China has white washed every teams they played. matches played 16 , won 16. games played 35, won 32. out of form? can't wait to watch them in form
Really? Seriously? If 3-0 is the result when they were out of form, it would be too scary to think when they are in full form. I would only consider them out of form when they are only allowed to play with 20lbs weight on their shoulders.
and for the boys, matches played 16 , won 16. games played 34, won 32. still time for the out of form team to get ready for London 2012 I guess.
So far, it's China all the way . So far, it's China all the way. With matches played 16, won 16; and games played 34, won 32; I do believe that China will retain as the 2012 Thomas Cup title holder. .
I agree.. With the absence of JJS will result in a slimmer chance for KOR to defeat CBA for Thomas cup. As for Uber Cup, most likely it will go to China way, although i am really keen to watch the match goes to the full distance. It will make LXR becomes hero...
Ok Wang Shixian isnt playing against Bae Younjoo...Probably the end of the road to becoming a top Chinese player now. She should just concentrate on collecting a few more titles (at least try to get the World Championship) before leaving the national team for good
I can see that more BCers are more interested in Doubles, than in Singles . After being at BadmintonCentral for so many years, I can see that more BCers are more interested in Doubles, than in Singles. At the Thomas & Uber Cups event, it is weighted towards the Singles (there are 3 Singles and 2 Doubles). China will always have the advantage (since they are more stronger in Singles events, than in Doubles). I am hoping for the Thomas & Uber Cups to be organised to have 3 Singles and 3 Doubles (in the future). When it could be organised in this way, China will not be as strong; unless they can raise their level in their Doubles pairs (especially in their Mens Doubles). China's Womens Doubles are still stronger than others. .
as we know, the MS, WS, MD, WD, XD world championships all currently belongs to China. the Sudirman Cup (mixed team world championship), and Thomas Cup (men's team world championship) also currently belong to China. what China is missing, is the Uber Cup, the women's team world championships. they will try to right this wrong tonight. and most likely they will. and if they do, then in the first time ever in badminton history, every single world championship, all 8 of them, belong to one country at the same time. however, they will also have to fight to retain the Thomas Cup the next day. what if they managed to win the Uber Cup and then lose the Thomas Cup? that means, they will have all 8 world championships in China, only for one day.
