Professional players- Strings they use

most players use bg65 and bg80, do a search their was a discussion about it not very long ago

 

I was wondering also about this.
None of them are using bg66sharp, nanogy98.

were these strings not good enough?
I did not have the answer why profs are seldom using it.
any good answer?

 

Cai Yun is using Nanogy 98 actually.

 

cuz those strings will break too fast espicially when the pro's hit so hard n @ pretti high tensions

 

so you meant that this bg66sharp is weaker that bg80.

many prof also use bg66, don't you think that bg66 is a weak string.

I think there must be some other reasons.

 

Part of it might be due to the player aiming for consistency. For pros, strings probably consitute a minor aspect of preference (grips, shoes, string tension probably top this).

The JP strings may not be available at every tournament string station. E.g. same idea~ I remember reading the Danish players preferring yellow BG80 and at one of the England tournaments, the stringer ran out or didn't have any.

They might bring their own
but if it is less common, the stringer may not be as familiar with the stringing characteristics (grip, stretch, etc) and put out a less that consistent string job.

Someone on this forum strung for many tournaments (HK). maybe the can give their view.

 

BG66 is 0.66mm thick while BG80 is 0.68mm thick..so,looking at the thickness..u should have the answer.

BG66 is used by pros that controls more than they attack,like TH.U should have know that pros usually string their rackets rite before each tournaments.N u should have seen TH broke his string after he smashed few times.Like yonex catalogue have written,BG66 is more for control,rather than for attacking.It provides a great repulsion while attacking,but in the same time,it'll wear down much faster than any other strings,esp in the high tension like pros usually strung.

If LD,who attacks alot,use BG66..then he'll be changing rackets few time in each tournaments.That's why he chooses BG65,which is more durable n works best at high tension(around 30lbs).Solid feel.Hard hitters choice.

 

My answer would be...since the profs are all used to their strings already..esp the older,more experienced players.They would tend to stick to their own string,that they have used tnce they knew which racket,which string that suits them most,they don't wanna try anything else.While younger players,r still in search of what's the best racket,the best string for them,they would try different things.Anything new,they would try it.

So,if u pay attention to the pro's preferrence in strings..u'd find out that pros that r using new strings like NBG95,NBG98 r the ones that's still young.Most of them r below 30.

 

I think you make a point here.
but if i were a prof, I would just try as many as I could.
as long as it is free may be new string with new technology will better my game, or old folk is still better

 

Each pros already have 1st chance to try any new stuff in the market, but at the end still depend on the player itself to pick.

 

Yup...they got the chance..younger player tends to try new things n they might end up using it.But older players..they barely even bother to try..

 

They probably try them during practices/free time but if they still like their old strings better they'd probably stick with it since they are used to it. Things that are new don't mean they are necessarily better. All about whether they like it or not.
