    Maybe you have no cash now but if you sell your skyrocketing Aussie property, you will have lots of money. :)

    Anyway, I hope either Malaysia or Australia will win the hosting right. Better chance for me to watch live than faraway place in Europe. Also even if I don't watch it live, the TV broadcast time would be at a more convenient time.

    Hosting the 2013 Sudirman Cup: Its either Sydney or KL

    .
    Just found bh185008's post;

    Good Luck to Sydney !!! :):):)

    I hope BWF would let Sydney be the host.

    Why? KL was that host of the 2010 Thomas & Uber Cups just last year (2010).

    Say yes for KL host Sudirman Cup 2013

    .
    KL was the host for the 2010 Thomas & Uber Cups. so, have a rest lah. :p:p:p

    Australia is a neutral ground for the Sudirman Cup competitors.

    So, wouldn't it be better for Australia to host this event this time? :):):)

    I think on those 2 occasions, no other countries other than China wish to host the Sudirman Cup.

    Sorry i,m A bit late on the reply, but from what I know they are coaching in Australia, but I'm not sure exactly how much. None of the players they have coached are anywhere near national representation. As for the standard of Australian play, it is very difficult for a country where badminton is a part time sport to compete with full time athletes. Australian players all work and study in addition to their training, while spending their own money to travel overseas. Compare this to 90% of other countries competing on the international circuit who are full time proffessional athletes getting paid to train and compete.

    Kuala Lumpur will host the Sudirman Cup in 2013

    .
    Latest news just received;

    NST
    09 December 2011

    Guangzhou, China has been awarded the 2013 world badminton championships, Copenhagen the 2014 titles and Kuala Lumpur the Sudirman Cup in 2013.

    The Badminton World Federation said after a council meeting Friday (09-Dec-2011) that the southern city of Guangzhou will mark China’s first hosting of the world titles in 26 years, while Denmark has not hosted the worlds in 15 years.

    Guangzhou beat out a bid from Macau while Copenhagen, which has hosted the world titles three times previously, had bid for both years. Kuala Lumpur was the only city to make a presentation for the 2013 Sudirman Cup, the world mixed championships which take place every two years.

    It said "Kuala Lumpur was the only city to make a presentation for the 2013 Sudirman Cup". I wonder why Sydney decided not to bid.

    Yeah, sole candidate after Sydney pulled out. Once again Sudirman Cup will be staged in Asian country after the last two edition held in China, first time for Malaysia to host this one of prestigious badminton team event beside TUC.

    BAM people are thrilled that they will be hosting the Sudirman Cup

    .
    Yes, BAM people are thrilled that they will be hosting the Sudirman Cup.

    They released this article;

    Monday December 12, 2011

    PETALING JAYA: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) are thrilled that they will be hosting the Sudirman Cup – the world mixed team badminton tournament – for the first time in Kuala Lumpur in 2013.

    They were awarded the job during the Badminton World Federation (BWF)’s council meeting last Friday and BAM secretary Ng Chin Chai sees it as an opportunity to place more focus on the women players.

    Teams need a balance of strength in both the men and women shuttlers to do well in the Sudirman Cup, which was introduced to the world circuit in 1989.

    Malaysia have never made it to the top four of the event and have only in recent years managed to stay in Division One. This was mainly because of the under-par women players.

    Chin Chai said that more effort would be made to strengthen both the women’s singles and doubles.

    “As hosts, we want to have a good team to mount a strong challenge. This means, we have to make sure that our players, men and women, are able to fight for every point. In the past, we depended on the men to deliver the points,” said Chin Chai.

    “But the women have shown a steady rise in standard – especially in the doubles. We need to push for more talents to come through in the women’s singles,” he added.
