Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 22-Dec-2013 (A Short Report) . Here is a short report for our Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 22-Dec-2013. We thank trainees for removing themselves from our 'Booking List' when unable to attend; therefore opening up vacancies for new trainees wishing to join us. Reminder : If you are unable to attend, kindly remove your name ASAP so that others can replace you, otherwise you will be fined. Why? And MSAC charges the court fees if we cancel our courts within 24 hours before our session starts. At this session, we welcomed 1 new trainee; * Pupul-B (New BCer) Hope that she had enjoyed our CATS. Trainees are now to begin ALL drills with these 2 strokes :- (1) The "Low Service", and (2) The "Net Return" and then, continue with the other strokes of our set drills. Why? Because we need to train more on these first 2 strokes in a rally. For this CATS, we worked on "Dropshot". Points to remember are; * Where is the point of impact (to keep the trajectory flat)? * Where is the point of impact (to give less time for opponent)? * Think of tapping it, instead of hitting it. * Know how far you are from the net; to know how much power to tap it. * Move forward with your weight transfer as you tap it. * The ultimate shot is for the shuttlecock to land on the net tape, and rolls down. * The ultimate stroke is one that deceives your opponent. * etc, etc, ...... If trainees are still not understanding the lesson taught, please ask me questions next session (to give you info/demo that you require). There was a discussion (outside our lesson) about the ”Reverse Dropshot”. Please remind me to cover this topic in our next CATS. For Pupul-B, our new trainee, she might not know that our CCC CATS conducts a program which takes around half-a-year to complete. He needs to learn to tap. * Mario-P needs to remember to have point of impact higher. Sometimes, it looks like a ”Soft Dab”. * Mohamed-S needs to be aware how far he is from the net before each stroke. Learning the adjustment of power is required. * David-B is learning fast; This is only his 2nd session with us. * Janice-S needs to remember to have point of impact at nearer to 11 o’clock. Trajectory needs to be flatter. * Jing-L is doing well with this stroke/shot. Nice touches are often executed. * Pupul-B, being new, is doing OK on her first lesson. Well Done. On this subject, a reminder needs to be sent out to all trainees: When playing Doubles, if your partner is behind you and the shuttlecock has gone past you, then leave it for your partner to play the shot. But NEVER look back at him/her playing the shot. Why? Because the shuttlecock and/or the racket can fly to your face. .
Playing Badminton with Safety . On the subject of "Playing Badminton with Safety", perhaps we should cover this topic next week (Sunday 29-Dec-2013).
