an e-mail from Tennishead : "Dear friends and colleagues of Wise USA Inc. It is with deep sadness that I inform you that my dear friend and business partner Herb Wise passed away yesterday, April 11 at 1:25PM" Herb Wise is the inventor of this machine ...
That's really sad. Although I have never met Herb, his invention is being used by thousands of stringers day in and day out. Making huge difference in our stringing process. A true innovation and a feat in engineering. May he rest in peace.
I'm considering getting a new stringing machine and found this post. Does anyone know a seller for the Wise 2086 in Canada.
consider to buy directly from them ? or at TennisWarehouse : http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/catpage-STRMACHINES.html
I just bought WISE2086 from Tennis Head so I can give some info on shipping to Canada. Shipping was pretty fast, about a week considering it has to ship to Canada. Customs charged about 10% (just GST and handling charges). Tennis Warehouse unfortunately doesn't ship to Canada, you'd have to pick it up from a US address or somewhere else instead. There are services that allow you to ship to a location in the US and you can pick it up close to the border, might want to look those up. Shipping to Canada cost about $75, so it would be cheaper if you ship to a US address instead.
so $75 is just the shipping fee Tennis Head charged for the package, or included custom fee 10% =($55). if the total shipping to your door is $75 I prefer to have they ship home, if total shipping is $75+55, I'll would pick up in US.
In my case, it was 55$ for the shipping to my home and I had to pay custom fees when it got to my door. So in your case, it would be 75 + 55.
I am planning to get a WISE 2086 from US through my friends there and get it shipped to UK.. Looking at the price difference, I am sure someone from UK has already tried this.. Mainly I want to know about import duties and Customs charges involved and whether VAT needs to be paid..

Thanks.. I have paid customs duty and other charges on shipments from outside EU but that was for rackets.. Do you know how much (approx) it will be for the WISE 2086 ? Said that, I have almost made up my mind to get it from UK itself, after reading through the forum, just incase something goes wrong with the machine and it needs repairs.
It would depend on the declared value of it on the customs form, plus the fees that parcelforce charge.
very often U live in a country and complain about everything hahaha. Here for one there is no DUTY or taxes and often on sports goods no VAT either..... really (btw the max Income tax is 15% only).....
Hi Folks Apologies if this is in the wrong section but I was looking for some advice and confirmation that I'm doing the right thing.... Last year I purchased a Pro's Pro Pilot (crank) machine and have strung around 45-50 rackets meaning I've pretty much broke even... I have been told that the best value way to upgrade is to change the crank head for a Wise 2086 electronic head. This seems to be an option very much supported in this thread. I was concerned about a few things having read many of the posts here.... 1.) Does the Wise 2086 (version 12) bracket need any adjustment/doctoring to be fitted to the Pro's Pro Pilot arm? 2.) Does anyone know if fitting it normally will give me full 360 turntable rotation? or will i have to raise the turntable? 3.) If i do have to raise the turntable to get 360 rotation, whats the best way to do this? 4.) Would a set up of Pro's Pro Pilot with Wise 2086 head be a good system? Apologies again if this is in the wrong section please point me to the thread i need and ill remove this post and repost there. I am a bit of a novice at these machines and the Pilot was my first machine (idiot proof answers and advice would be AMAZING) I have also emailed Michal to try and order some custom side supports....does anyone know if is email address is still: michal.chudek@gmail.com?? Thanks in advance for the help......Looking at some of your guys set ups is like a kid looking into a sweet shop Many thanks Tizzy!
Buying Chudek supports is the best bang for your buck upgrade to your machine. I can't thank him enough for what he has brought to the badminton and stringing community. 1) I don't own a Pro's Pro so i can't comment on this. 2) I know that buying a wise does not guarantee 360 racket rotation. In my case, (Gamma 6004) if i didn't install the gamma adapter i'd get 360 degree rotation at the cost of the string pulling at a non optimal angle (pulling downwards 2-3 inches (BAD!!). With the adapter on, I lost 360 racket rotation (chudek supports lowered the frame down) and the string was pulling perfectly horizontal. I raised the turntable slightly with longer screws and spacers in between the turntable and the stand to get back 360. It pulls at a slight angle downwards but i use my diablo (you can see my setup on youtube). 3) Option 1: if you can get away with using your existing screws to raise it slightly then just buy some spacers/washers. Option 2: see if Michal can fashion his supports so that they are raised to the desired height. 4) Yes it would be a nice setup. If you do buy a wise you may want to consider getting a foot pedal if you are standing while stringing. (don't buy the official one. Ones made for an electronic keyboard will work ~$15 vs $40 for official. i posted about this in another thread. just search) As always, focus on improving your stringing techniques and consistency. Buying a wise is not necessarily a must have but a "nice-to-have". There are very good stringers on this forum that just use a Klippermate 2 point drop weight that is $150 stringing @ high tension. That's what i call pretty impressive.
Mine did - Robin of W&D strings kindly did a bit of grinding for me to widen the slot. I got 360 with my old Pilot. The easiest way is to add some washers between the turntable and the hub. The best way is to custom-make a spacer - there are some examples on here in the "custom parts" thread. Yes - a very good one, in fact. The Michals offer huge improvement for silly money.
