Congrats to INA. The fact that MAS won one match showed they weren't going to roll over without a fight. In the end, the predictable happened. And etudient survived too. :D

INA players - well done and deserving
INA BC members - class. Thumbs up
INA fans at the stadium - those singing abusive songs... it's only a sport. Grow up

MAS players - held up their seeding position. Special mention to Goh/Lim for winning a point
MAS BC members - also class
MAS fans at the stadium - were there any? If yes, did they survive getting out of the stadium? :D

I wonder what it would have been if MAS had fielded LCW and KKK/TBH?

3-1 or 3-2. KKK/TBH can't beat Bona/Ahsan while GWS/LKW has a small chance to beat MK/HS. The result would have been either the same or 3-2.

Just how I think it would have played out:

LCW would have won MS1. MAS 1-0 INA
KKK/TBH would have lost MD1. MAS 1-1 INA
Daren Liew would have won MS2. MAS 2-1
Goh/Lim would have lost MD2. MAS 2-2 INA
Arif would have lost MS3. MAS 2-3 INA

INA ends up with gold anyway. MAS wins in getting valuable exposure for their 2nd team and backup players

To be honest, I think the first game had a big impact on the direction on where the game would go for Liew Daren vs Simon. Simon was actually quite nervous, making errors and not so fluid movement in the first game, and Liew Daren could have added the pressure by winning the first game. However, in the second game Simon got his confidence back and from then on Daren had no chance.

It's easier to survive the Istora now. There was a time from the 60s to the early 90s, that Malaysian players and fans really needed super strong nerves to get through. So much so that the Malaysian Thomas Cup team of 1994 had to get their silver medals outside of the winners rostrum.

What kind of 'abusive songs'? As far as I remember, all they did was singing patriotic songs and chanting the obligatory 'woo-yeah-woo-yeah'. :p

Oh, and congrats for INA boys. For the ladies, do better in individuals.
