Hmm...Tonight I tried to strung with BG66UM to see if there is any different. The smashing is so slow. hahaha.
IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE THE ATTACK PART BY 5-10 % ......add the continous grommets like i did. That gives the ARC 11 a little bit more weight on the head...very vital in giving you the added smashing OOMPH!
I think you should. Twice I strung my rackets with BG80 and both times I remove them after only 2-3 games because the power was just not... there.
I'm not normally an ArcSaber user, but in my brief trials, I totally agree with your assessment. Great control, but lacking in oomph. Tapped the power of the AS11 but it's unimpressive vs my VTZF, find myself trying too hard with the AS in this department. I'm a BG80P user, and I'll try a different string with it and give it a chance, but I'm not a fan of the hold time of the racquet. What strings have you had success with on the AS11 for power?
I'm looking forward to the ArcSaber 11. I love my ArcSaber 10 and am hoping that the 11 gives just a little extra oomph than the 10. That said I can smash almost as hard with my 10 as I can with my AT700 - so I guess a lot of the power of a racket comes from personal preference and technique/style
I loved the Arc 10 when I first got it, but it turned into a weird one for me. Not stiff enough, in the end, and inconsistent in feel, and it couldn't seem to make its mind up what it wanted to be - when I used it in doubles it felt like a singles racket, and when I used it in singles it felt like a doubles racket. Right in the "between two stools" zone, IOW. If the Arc 11 has managed to put its foot down and decide (and be a bit stiffer with better feel) I'll probably give it a look.
Finally, Paul has it...I'm eager to see Paul's verdict for this masterpiece. I have had someone asking me about the Yonex continuous grommets I have installed on my racket. If you look at page 13, You'll see the image of the Continuous grommets I have installed on the ArcSaber11. The Continuous grommets installed at the bottom of the racket head, successfully added just the sufficient amount of weight needed for the extra edge in smashing that I needed. I have tried the racket with and without the grommets. And yes, after 12 hours(broke into 4 days) of hitting,,,i DARE say that there surely is alot of difference between with and without the grommets in the smashing department. The difference was also felt by my younger brother who plays for the state team. He purchased 2 of em after 3 hours of game time. My ArcSaber 11 SP 3UG5 is certainly one of my all time favorites. Perfect for both Singles and doubles.
Dear WCR999, appreciate if you can post some photos with additional grommets on racket frame for your Arc
Which string is the best suit for Arc11 to get ummmppphhh for smashing instead ads-in the grommets? Thx
Maybe you can try the N98 - it has really good repulsion when strung at higher tensions. Or if you want cheaper, use the BG66UM... but be warned, it would go "down" after a few times of usage.
Try not to use repulsive string from what I think, it defeats the purpose of stiff shaft to control the shuttle. I would prefer 80p or NG99 for perfect match.
Dear WCR999, what string & tension you & your brother use? Whether both main & cross string are strung with same tension?
The grommets total weight is not even 1 gram , it should hardly matter in that aspect ... also being on the bottom of the frame instead of at the top ...
IME, you won't get more than 2 mm of extra balance with those strip grommets... IOW, you won't notice.
