I think we all like him because of his "creative" play. Shots that no other current top pro badminton doubles player uses. They are all deftly controlled and well placed shots in the fore or midcourt without much power, but still effective and deadly... when they work! Too much of men's doubles these days are about power and attack, just like how tennis has become over the last 10 years... somehow it's quite refreshing to see that the game can also be won with soft strategically placed shots.
Watching their playing is quite enjoyable because there were plenty of interesting move from KKK that couldn't be seen in most international players. They can do it as well but they are not so daring like KKK did. I found that if KKK performs well with his trick, they can beat any top opponents, just they have to stay focus.
I think there is something In KKK that many have not noticed. He is a good team player and plays for the team, if his partner underperforms he takes it on himself to cover or take over from his partner, everytime his partner does something wrong he doesn't sulk or moan or put on a face or shift the blame but tries to do something different next time. It is not the same with his partner who moans and complains etc. but I think now the partner also assumes KKK's attitude, to play for his partner. It is still better than in the past where pairs actually quarrel on court and even now amongst the juniors there are juniors who think their partners are not good enough for them but unlike KKK do not attempt to cover for their partners and adjust to their styles and continue to be negative complainers. In this respect KKK is admirable though of course it will have its drawbacks.Doubles is a partnership/team after all, not "you do your part and I do mine" activity.
Sometimes outsiders like us tend to misinterpret the facial expression of the players by watching from the sideline. During a long and intense rally especially at crucial moments when one's partner make a simple mistake after he or she put on plenty of efforts to win the point, it is only natural for them to feel disappointed. Whenever the next serve is played, most would leave the episode behind and focus on the next point. Whatever it is, what happened at the badminton court should stay at the badminton court and no one should hold any grudges when the match is over.
^^ True. Its only natural human nature. I wince my face too when my partner makes a simple mistake after a hard fought rally, but I try to turn my face so he won't see it!
yes at least try to conceal it, it is demoralising when you make a mistake and your partner slams his racquet or throws it up in the air, it can be distracting.
Badminton needs people like KKK to keep us entertain. Sports nowadays will be boring if there is no persona in it. and KKK have the Skills, the controversies as in his antics. That make the game more fun to watch.
Too much entertaining shots but no more winners makes him looks stupid also.........even tv commentators called him ' plays like a clown '....sad for him, I think he has to know the right time to plays serious shots.........
thats the main point...is sad to see, some shots can be saved if KKK play seriously.... some shots when time is right, he can play fancy...but some an obvious NO-NO.....he still wanna play fancy sometimes can see TBH is pissed off with that....
Is this true? My feeling is... he is just a Christian... I mean a normal Christian but not Catholic.... Just my feeling....
Sometimes the fans and supporters will pissed off with that too.. BTW, is it me or anyone else that thinks KKK latest hairstyle looked horrible?
