    Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 22-May-2011 (A Short Report)

    At this CCC CATS, we worked on Best Selection of Shots.

    Hope that our trainees will remember;

    * To know where (at what o'clock) the point of impact is with the shuttlecock.
    * To execute the correct/best shot based on the where the point of impact is.
    * To move faster (in Footwork) if wishing to do the Smash and/or the Dropshot.
    * For the Smash, the 'GAP' is more important than the power.
    * For the Dropshot, 'DECEPTION' is most useful.
    * etc, etc, ......

    It's great that Helmut-H and Wendy-L are getting more Smashes into the 'GAP'. Shaoqi-C and Leonard-W are concentrating on power too much when smashing, and therefore are not as accurate (not targeting into the 'GAP').

    For the Dropshot, KeChong-K needs to execute it closer to 11 o'clock; at the moment most Dropshots were executed around 11:30 o'clock.

    Perhaps we will repeat this lesson: 'Best Selection of Shots' for this coming Sunday 29-May-2011.

    Lunch after our session was held at Noodle Kingdom, a Chinese restaurant at 175 Russell St, Melbourne City;

    CCC CATS at MSAC on Sunday 29-May-2011: Court No.4, 10am to 12noon

    .
    Hi CCCers,

    Please be informed that for our CCC CATS on Sunday 29-May-2011, we shall be at our usual time: from 10:00am to 12:00noon, and located at our usual court: on Court No.4.

    Do always check this info thread regularly. This is because there are so many events happening at MSAC; that we can receive late changes to our CCC CATS program at the very last moment.

    There is a suggestion from helmut telling me that it's best for me to suggest which chapter/topic to teach based on what I find is lacking amongst our trainees.

    In our next session, we shall repeat 'Selection of Shots'.

    What caused us making our unforced errors?

    .
    Received email asking what is this lesson on 'Accuracy of Shots'?

    Well, our trainees' shots have been inaccurate. In games, there were too many unforced errors made.

    We shall learn how to play/direct/place our shots more accurately.

    Factors involved are;
    * Grip
    * Feet positions
    * Body mechanics
    * Strokes follow-through
    * Shuttle speed
    * etc, etc, ...

    We need to understand what causes us making our unforced errors.

    Hi CATS trainees,

    Badminton posters are required for a film production 'Bruce Lee Played Badminton Too'.

    If you have any Badminton posters and are willing to donate, borrow or allow the film producer to photocopy for her film production, please help.

    Just click on this new thread that I have started for this topic, located at;

    At this CCC CATS, we worked on Accuracy of Shots.

    Hope that our trainees will remember;

    * To direct/control our shot with the index finger and the thumb of our grip.
    * To execute our shot with more precise follow-through for better accuracy.
    * For the Lift, the point of impact is better to be higher than lower.
    * For the Overhead Clear, we also need precise follow-through for better accuracy.
    * To be aware of the Shuttle speed used; therefore adjust our position for Service.
    * etc, etc, ......

    It's great that Helmut-H has achieved better accuracy from both the Forehand and Backhand Lifts. KeChong-K needs more drills for the Forehand Lifts.

    Perhaps we shall repeat this lesson: 'Accuracy of Shots' for this coming Sunday 12-Jun-2011.

    Hi Chris
    I posted before but I can't find my post. I think moderators will not allow me to post the question. Not sure why.

    I'm interested in coaching sessions. I'm just wondering what your credentials are like? Are you an accredited coach? if so, to what level? Also, what are your credentials? did you ever play for Australia or a national team or have you been an official technical coach of a national team?

    Cheers
    Ben

    At this CCC CATS, we worked on Accuracy of Shots.

    Hope that our trainees will remember (same training as last week);

    * To direct/control our shot with the index finger and the thumb of our grip.
    * To have the racket face to shine where the palm is shining.
    * To execute our shot with more precise follow-through for better accuracy.
    * To be aware of the Shuttle speed used; therefore adjust our position for Service.
    * For the Underarm Clear, the point of impact is better to be higher than lower.
    * For the Overhead Clear, we also need precise follow-through for better accuracy.
    * For the Bounce, the point of impact to be 10 cm under the net tape.
    * For the Bounce, the MAXIMA to be on our side of the net.
    * For the Dropshot to go horizontal, point of impact to be at 11:00 0'clock.
    * etc, etc, ......

    It's great that Helmut-H has achieved better accuracy from both the Forehand and Backhand Lifts. KeChong-K needs more drills for the Forehand Lifts using the Forehand Grip (not with the Backhand Grip). :):):)

    We welcome Jack-X, joining us for his first time. He said that there is so much to learn on his first session. :):):) And will need to practice the Grip with the racket face shining where the palm is shining.

    Don't worry about credentials; it doesn't show how good a coach is (IMHO)

    .
    Just found this post. :eek::eek::eek:

    Hi baddybaddy, Thanks for the questions. Probably, our moderators do not want me to advertise my credentials. Let's see if my reply will be deleted or not. :):):)

    Reply:

    * Was instructed by Badminton Australia in their first batch of qualified coaches. Was in same batch with June Bevan (New South Wales' most famous player - also a famous Australian national team player - and a coach of the Under-17 New South Wales team). The Australian Under-17 Inter-state Annual Cup is named after her).

    * Was the founder and became coach of the Macquarie University Badminton club.

    * Was the coach of the Sydney Badminton Association; and their grader as well.

    * Coached the Under-21 state team of New South Wales for Inter-state matches.

    * Coached the Central Queensland University Badminton team for Inter-varsity matches.

    * Coached Victorian school teams for Inter-school matches.

    * Coached club teams for Inter-Club matches.

    * Coached the Northern Irish Badminton team for International matches (at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne).

    * Had instructions from Hou Chia-chang and Tang Hsien-hu (the 'Thing') from China (as organised by Badminton Australia).

    But don't worry about credentials; it doesn't show how good a coach is. :p:p:p
