I'm having a 'furious' debate with the troll Vincent Chen, who seems to be on every video of Taufik, always hating on him.

I see. Was he like that here or is he just trolling?
I can't seem to understand why anyone would have such a strong negative emotional attachment to a professional badminton player, having only watched their matches.

To witness Taufik Hidayats last match at the All England in person was an honour. Such a gentleman, to witness that amazing touch and control and that phenomenal backhand was fantastic.

The fact that he had time for all his fans at the end for signings shows he's a true professional. I wish him well in future.

Very nice video and it makes me appreciate TH more. Points aside, looking at his garage, luxury house and his own THA facility, there is nothing more to consider for a good retirement and enjoying his life after what he has achieved so far.

Moreover, what he has mentioned on the interview obviously reflects his new objectives are no longer focusing on his own games on the court but it's time for him to concentrate more on developing young talents to create a new generation of Indonesian badminton athletes at his calibre or even higher.

    Salute to Taufik Hidayat !

Taufik is winding down pretty rapidly now... :( :( :(

I can only hope he's keeping his powder dry for the Indonesia Open PSS, for one final tilt at glory at the Istora.

OMG! Only a few months left, then I will have to travel to Jakarta to see ever this guy play! :crying:

Does anyone know if he will be participating at the Canadian Open this year?

I don't think Taufik will get very far in the INA Open. It would be nice to go out on a good note but it seems almost impossible.

Taufik's son is still 2 years old. :D

    Cobalt,

This is a news clip about the Taufik Hidayat Arena (hereinafter to be mentioned as "THA").

In the beginning, Taufik explained his concerns about Indonesian badminton, considering his retirement in the near future, he felt that he would like to support the development of badminton in Indonesia. Based on his personal opinion, he failed to see the current youngsters would be able to replace his position, and continue the glory of Indonesian badminton. Accordingly, the creation of THA is also intended to develop and to seek the new talents for the future of Indonesian badminton.

Subsequently, there was also interview with Amy Gumelar (Taufik's spouse), who explained the plannings, process and preparation of establishment of THA. She clearly said that Taufik preferred for unique designs for the building, and also how the details of THA was prepared based on collaboration between Taufik, the supporting team and herself. Further, she also said how their eldest daughter (5 yrs old) is registered as one of the youngsters being trained in THA. However, she declared that badminton was just for fun (to her daughter), and she still hasn't seen whether her daughter possesses the talent like Taufik. Thus she put no pressure to her daughter to focus in badminton.

Last but not least, during the interview, I somehow considered that Amy Gumelar seemed to be dominating, and Taufik support her spouse with nodding the statements made by her (based on his body language and my personal opinion).

Hopefully this would be sufficient for you to understand the news clip. I prefer not to translate word by word of the whole news, but merely provide you with the excerpt thereof.
