what happened to this thai player? did he retire as well after the olympics? i assume his partner retired, but he is only 27..still a few years left for a doubles player?
dunno, Pramote Teerawirawatana (if I remember his name correctly) is now part of the national coaching staff I think. He was 36 I think when he played in the 2003 World Championships.
he was a good player to watch, many flashes of "old crafty folk" panvisvas reminds me of sagat in street fighter...same build and strength
I found one photo on him with his partner back in 2001. He was not that "big" at that time... Pramote Teerawiwatana and Tesana Panvisvas of Thailand in action on the second day of the 2001 Asia Cup Badminton Championship at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore.
Some recent pics.. ..these were taken during last yr's Thai Open....Btw, Tesana is not a Panda (as that's already reserved for our own NGP). Rather, a teddybear is probably more apt..
We have been told that He was a royal guard for princess who love playing badminton. During INA Open, we call him " Kungfu Panda"...
Here are some recent pics.. ..of Tesana and Songphon at this yr's S'pore Open...And extra credit for anyone who can tell us who the photographer, who took these pics, is..
I am not amused by your comments at all and I am not asking for credit. I like to share my pics with you guys and do not see the need to copyright my photos (yes I know they are not good photos compared to the pros here). All I ask is that you state the source or link where you found the photos.
^^As requested..^^ ..(calm down, Sealman)... ..ABCD will do the dirty work...here are the links/sources to the above pics : http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45333&page=2 http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56497&page=11 http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56497&page=13
Apparently.. ..Tesana's last Doubles appearance, in international play, before last yr, was in 2005. During that yr he played XD in 2 tourneys. And the last time he played Men's Doubles was in 2004, at the 2004 Athens Olympics...2 yrs of not competing in international play, really shows.. Here are a couple more pics of him. One taken during this yr's TC Qualification tourney (yes, with Sudket), whilst the other during this yr's S'pore Open (non-baddy pic)..
Oops.. ...i better put the sources/links, again, before the photographer(s)/owner(s) of these pics come after me again... http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52460 (1st pic) http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56572&page=2 (2nd pic)
he has certainly lost a lot of hair, and found a lot of weight. all that said though, i wish i could play like him!
