Ramdan has not been training much last few months, dunno why. In his 'normal' form, I put him 2nd after Iskandar, Syawal plays too fancy.
yes, I've seen syawal played... too fancy ended up with errors... Iskandar got the skill too but need to encourage himself more...

Wednesday December 1, 2010 The Star BAM give back-up players another chance KUALA LUMPUR: The back-up shuttlers, who failed to seize the opportunity to shine at the Guang­zhou Asian Games, have been given a reprieve. The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have decided to give them more time to prove their mettle before taking any drastic action. That is the stand taken by BAM coaching and training chairman Ng Chin Chai after the failure of several second stringers to live up to the expectations at the Asiad, which ended on Saturday. One more chance: Liew Daren is among the back-up shuttlers who failed to seize the opportunity to shine in Guangzhou. In Guangzhou, Malaysia continued to show their over-reliance on Lee Chong Wei, Mohd Hafiz Hashim and Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and the dire lack of depth in the back-up squad when none made a breakthrough. Liew Daren, Chan Kwong Beng and Mak Hee Chun-Tan Wee Kiong and Chan Peng Soon failed to use the Asiad as a platform to take their game to a higher level. Malaysia won two silver medals through Chong Wei and Kien Keat-Boon Heong respectively. Chin Chai said it was only fair to give the players room to develop their game – especially when the changes in the training and coaching set-up was carried out just two months ago. In fact, he said, the BAM did the right thing by taking a chance with their youngsters as it gave them good exposure. “The BAM did the right thing to give the youngsters exposure although we knew the risks involved. This experience will do them a world of good in the future. Can you imagine what would have happened if we had sent only the old-timers and got the same results?,” he said. “Besides, Daren and Hee Chun-Wee Kiong had good results prior to the Asian Games to earn their places in the team. Let’s give them more time.” Daren did well to pull the rug from under China’s top junior Wang Zhengming in the Denmark Open while Hee Chun-Wee Kiong had beaten at least one top name in each of the tournaments they took part in for the last three months. Chin Chai said that a report on the players’ performances at the Asian Games would be submitted to the council members at the annual general meeting (AGM), which begins in Langkawi today. The AGM also coincides with the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) council meeting, which will be held at the same place.
aiya... they are still young... give them more time to prove themselves... there are plenty of SS tourneys coming up next year with bigger pay cheque... no need to worry, we can still rely on the old birds for the next... err... 5yrs? BOLEH
Its not just the elite back-up but BAM should concentrate also the junior back-up (iskandar, syawal, ramdhan,zulfadli etc) and expose them now if we don't want them become what the elite has become now. BAM aslo should start all the states open back as a senior platform for the identified junior player and at the same time as a identyfing arena for new talented junior player other than the junior national circuit,MSSM and Sukma.
China is really good in grooming their players from Junior to Senior Levels. That's what missing from Malaysia... How did China do that?

Seniors Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Hoon Thien How were thrown out. Yesterday, the pairs gave Malaysia both joy and heartbreak on the opening day of the China Open in the mixed and men’s doubles events in Shanghai. Asian Badminton Championships winner Peng Soon-Liu Ying gave Malaysia a flying start when they stunned seventh seeds Lee Sheng-mu-Chien Yu-chin of Taiwan 21-18, 9-21, 21-19 to reach the second round of the penultimate Super Series event. Back-up shuttlers Ong Jien Guo-Sabrina Chong failed to make it a triple joy for Malaysia in the mixed doubles event when they lost 13-21, 10-21 to China’s He Hanbin-Ma Jin. Peng Soon-Liu Ying are currently the country’s top mixed doubles pair but they have failed to stamp their mark in the last three major events – World Championships in Paris, Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and Asian Games in Guangzhou. But coach Jeremy Gan believes that Peng Soon-Liu Ying are on the right track. “They are more mature as a pair now. Playing in the last three major events has really given them a lot of experience,” said Jeremy. “Today, they combined well. They are beginning to have a better understanding of each other’s game. And, when they get it right, it is difficult for their opponents to break their rhythm. Hopefully, they will keep the momentum going here.” Meanwhile, national coach Rosman Razak is beginning to be concerned with the form of Zakry-Thien How after the pair’s 15-21, 10-21 loss to Taiwan’s Fang Chieh-min-Lee Sheng-mu in the first round. Zakry-Thien How have not achieved any outstanding results since being paired up after the Thomas Cup Finals in May. Two other Malaysian pairs - Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and Goh Wei Shem-Teo Kok Siang – also made it to the second round with straight game wins over Pei Pei Tianyi-Wang Tianyang of China and Ruud Bisch-Koen Ridder of Holland respectively. The senior and back-up pairs will take on Lu Kai-Li Gen of China and South Koreans Lee Yong-dae-Jung Jae-sung respectively for places in the quarter-finals. It was however, the end of road for singles shuttler Chong Wei Feng when he went down 11-21, 11-21 to world champion Chen Jin of China in the opening round.

my comment on above article. I am not sure is media work or what.. but CPS/GLY beside ABC title, performed poorly most of the time and failed big time in WC, CG and AG...but Jeremy Gan said they are on right track now? Hopefully, they will keep the momentum going here.” i hope Jeremy Gan can be consistent in giving comments....what he will say, if CPS/GLY fails in the next round or next few tournaments?? Zakry/Ah How sadly will be gone case.....waiting for time for another breakthrough or sinking slowly... as for CWF? no more comment....not much hope from our elite back-up...
Let's look at the results WC - 2nd round lost to Diju V / Jwala Gutta (Ind) 19-21, 8-21 CG - SF lost to Nathan Robertson-Jenny Wallwork 21-9, 13-21, 21-23 Bronze medal playoff - lost to Triyachart-Yao Lei 14-21, 21-17, 17-21 AG -1st round lost to Shin Bak Cheol-Lee Hyo Jung 10-21 14-21 Could have done better at WC and CG, but in AG, they lost to the eventual champions..hard luck IMO, on the right track would mean they are progressing slowly, meaning that they should qualify at least QF at WC, and nicked a medal at CG..but sadly not the case. Up to now..yes..daniel, I don't know what he meant by 'right track'..probably he said that after looking at their match performance yesterday. However, success is measured by results, not ad-hoc performance. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, let's see how they perform in this tournament.
As for Zakry-How..I think they should made way for the juniors..time's up..might as well go independent like Gan-Tan, CTF-LWW CWF --too bad he met Chen Jin(only LD and LCW can handle him) in the 1st round..no chance, should go for GP tournaments, improve on rankings..then go for SS..otherwise being unseeded he will meet the big guns early.
CWF beat CJ before...maybe lucky or CJ off-form? anyway I always believe our players can...at least he beat him once... why not second time??
thats the case with our media or coaches....giving some confusing statements... too much based on ad-hoc results...today say, can do this, can do that.... tomorrow, if lost, keep quiet...i am not looking down on our players but be realistic dont promise heaven when your are still at ground level....
