TeddyC It may that for you each racket will respond differently to a particular string and tension. I found TK9000 came alive at higher tension. Whether that's down to stiffness, I don't know. However it played even better at 28lbs and I use NS880 Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Paul Going thru ur review of both rackets, noticed TK-6ooo was strung with VS800, 0.70mm string while TK-9ooo with VS850, 0.68mm. Both at 25 lbs. Now y do u think Victor presented u the rackets with these set-ups? I'm having a wild guess here...
VS800 is a .69 gauge string and plays really well. Mark has been testing and loves it. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
It took a while to "wake up", but it's turned out to be both powerful and lively. And loud. Should be noted I'm running it at 33 lb, though...
A thin string will always wake a racket up, as will a tight string. Thin and tight, and it'll be singing. Interesting you should bring up the TK9000... mine are due any day now, and I've got a veritable bouquet of strings to try in it. I hope it's not a plank!
hm okay I have some findings about tension, pitch, and string density. Here is the definite information: BEFORE: I had a sharp iso, 96-hole, unknown tension, BG65 strung badminton racket I also had an iso, 76-hole, 23/25 original tension, BG65 strung badminton racket. The pitch on the 96-hole was one half-step higher than the 76-hole racket. The sharp-iso played like a very high tension 76-hole racket; it played very crisply with great power. AFTER: (after string-break, restrung the 96-hole) I have a sharp-iso 96-hole, 25/27 original tension, BG65Ti (difference between BG65Ti and BG65 pitch??). The pitch on the 96-hole was much, much higher than the 76-hole racket. The tension is much higher. CONCLUSIONS: Higher string density makes rackets play with seemingly higher tension. Pitches shouldn't be compared when stringing rackets with different numbers of holes unless you have a LOT of time to string and compare tensions.
I guess you mean number if strings, not number of holes. Same number of strings with different amount of holes will neither sound nor play different because of the hole number.
I'm currently testing zm67 for durability at 30lb, it plays well at that tension but that's not the reason for the test.
I guess I can help there as its a comparison I'm trying to establish. ZM67 is thicker and not as lively as vs850. Power is good on both but control is better with 850. Durability is what I'm trying to find out, I'll let you know when I decide.
ZM67 is more similar to BG65, BG80P. Whereas ZM65 is more similar to VS850, although the latter has a more crispy crunchy feel.
