Like biggybil says, that's a pretty rough method for raising the turntable that also exposes bolt heads on the turntable making the fixed clamps unusable. No doubt, a better job could be done that achieves 360 degree rotation, keeps the turntable level and stable, and preserves the use of the fixed clamps.
you know home depot sells those hallow metal tube and it comes in 1/4" and 1/2" cut that up and it should be stronger ... as for screws ... if you can't find it i guess your screwed as they say hahaha
Blindfury says not having his fixed clamps available is no big deal to him. And he says the turntable is very level and plenty stable. So if he is happy with his setup as is, we should all be happy too!
thanks, online source is exactly what I should go for, homedepot here seems to be very limited in the types of screws they offer.
boss why not using similar to original bolts but a bit longer ? it will solve your fixed-clamp issue ....
surprisingly the local hardware store did not offer any "patterned head" (excuse my non-existent hardware vocabulary) eg. cross, line, square, star etc. for the screws (the screw type is M8-70: M8 = 8mm? 70 = the length) thats why I had to use this flat unpatterned heads + washer (without washers they just fall right into the hole, very difficult to tighten) that get in the way of the fixed clamp. I will try to find the proper screws from an online source later. thank you for your valuable input on modifying the turning base, it is indeed much easier than raising the height of the mounts or the north/south pole bases.
Our R&D department shop hardwares from McMaster Carr, www.mcmaster.com they have incredible selection and they sell small qty as well, good luck Ted
those seem like generic clamps that come with the machine, very much like my alpha ones, which are not ideal for badminton crosses.
