Is Oldhand telling us that his heart is as tough as stone ??? . Is Oldhand telling us that his heart is as tough as stone ??? .
For starters, this song by Iwan Fals does it for me... "Belum ada judul" The language is not native to me, but I think the translation would run as such; "As yet untitled" We once toiled (together), trapped in the bitter cold of night Slipping into potholes on the street, tripped-up by the uncompromising hands of time Enchanted by beautiful dreams .....(slumber) We did once feel, the torrid heat inscribe wretched anger in our hearts, very nearly rendering us sceptics The wheel of fortune continues spining Dear friend, do you recollect?....(you) * And as days passed, you eventually left with brooding vengence in your heart... (I'd) been walking along in solitude for long enough, without a mate who'd care to comprehend, until we met today Your piercing eyes penetrate my soul you bring me to my senses....(sober) Please pardon the sub-par translation...
Found the translation to the song "Father's grassland, mother's river" on web. There are two versions I have heard, one sang by male and the other female. The latter was more sad to listen. To those wandering and searching souls, away from their birthplaces or ancestral homes ... Father's Grassland, Mother's River Inner Mongolia News 2004-08-22 06:28 Words: Xi Murong Tune: Wulan Tuga When father described the fragrance of grassland, He could not forget it even far away from it. Mother was glad to tell me the vast and mighty river, Which runs through Mongolian Plateau, my far away hometown. Now I see this vast land, Now I stand on the fragrant grassland, tears out of my eyes. Rivers are singing the blessing of ancestors, Which protects the wandering children to find the way home. Ah, father's grassland, Ah, mother's river. Although I can not use my mother tongue to tell is all, Please accept my sorrow and my joy. I am a child of Mongolian Plateau, too, With one song deep in my heart, In which there are father's grassland and mother's river. Ah, father's grassland, Ah, mother's river. One and only! "I'll see you in my dreams" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Mu8D69uxA0 Here is the lyric. Though the days are long, Twilight sings a song, Of the happiness that used to be; Soon my eyes will close,, Soon I'll find repose, And in dreams you're always near to me.'' I'll see you in my dreams, Hold you in my dreams;, Someone took you out of my arms, Still I feel the thrill of your charms!, Lips that once were mine, ''Tender eyes that shine, They will light my way tonight, I'll see you in my dreams!''

Into The West - Annie Lennox from the OST of Return of the King. I actually wept while watching the white ship sail from the Grey Havens ... I think it's more of the emotional impact of the scene rather than the song, especially if you understood what it means by 'grey ships sail into the West' as in the whole saga of Middle-Earth.
That's what movie studios trying to sell you in their products - scene, which can have a whole different sensing from song. Put together, we're emotional slaves in more ways. Hope we're not opening another can of worms here for crying :crying:
