I've got this strained wrist 10+ days ago. The middle tendon on the back of my hand still hurts when I bend the wrist. I've seen a doctor and she asked me to wait and see, nothing better. Any of you guys have this problem before? What caused it? Maybe using wrist too much when doing backhands? doc suggested typing as well. I don't remember a sudden movement that caused it, but do remember doing some backhand clear drills beforehand, (which I don't normally do much). How long does it take to recover? btw, would anti-inflammatory pill help?
To answer some of your questions in my unprofessional opinion, but i have it myself. It doesn't go away completeley, you need to strenthen your forearm muscles used in the back hand stroke- i did this using a squash racket, just by practicing forehand shots lightly will alow you to do less damage to your wrist. Anti inflamatory pills help, i personally take ibuprofen after badminton, and sometimes before if it's bad. Don'y forget to warm up very slowly, if your taking it seriously then wrap a scarf around your wrist on the way to badminton with a heat patch possibly and after apply ice.
I've had it Don't know what you mean by it doesn't go away completely. I've had it a few times when I used to play tournaments. It does go away as I'm free of it now. Then again, I'm not playing as many games in a single day. Strengthening your forearm muscles work. Also, changing your hold on the racket to a more relaxed grip should help.
if u ask me... do not apply ice to it... ice is for treating bruises n wounds... a better option wud b to go for hot water treatment.... hot water... put white salt in it... dip ur wrist in it for lets say 15 min... if water gets too hot dip a towel in it... wring it n wrap arnd ur wrist for lets say 30 sec.. repeat.... once done apply pain relieving gel... one tht has methyl salicylate in it with linseed oil... volini...penorub.. or capsidol to name a few in india tht is.... rub the gel / cream in well and wrap ur wrist in a crepe bandage so tht it doesnt move much... do this for 15 days n see the effect... downside -- baddy has to b a big NO during this time... i knw thts killing... but thts how it has to b... best o luck mate...
n ya... this treats ligament tears like anything... so tendons is not mucho big for a deal... i ve had three o them major ones... n presto... healed to perfection... courtesy - football... n nw i have another one on my rite ankle... courtesy-- badminton... nnot very behind u knw....
