Funny thing about that day is my AF went a bit crazy. I couldn't judge the AF on my screen but I got plenty of out of focus shots. Quite annoying especially as the light was not really that bad.
Hmm.. ..if i were Cheung, i'd really consider about that...(more chances for Cheung to post similar pics, in BC, as his pics above) *Btw, the gal in the second pic, in post #980, resembles a bit like Angelina Jolie (in that profile pose).. to phandrew: was that pic taken with a handphone or a Canon Powershot G3??..Or is the technology part of the handphone??..
I took it with a modded driver on my phone. I am trying out many modded drivers to see which one is the best for the phone and so far this is the best one.
I am lost. Is g7 a kind of phone, or really a cannon's g7 but it is such a big camera in size in public place facing strangers taken their pictures.
ha ha...i am pretty sure my new panasonic tz5 is more fun then g7... much much smaller in size but packs with tons of new and advance features. eg. 28mm-280mm, double anti-handshaking device, continous burst shooting, 3 inches high resolution and bright monitor; importantly, it is leica lense. And inexpensive at all.
I have a better snap shoot chances using my TZ5. This photo is croped and enlarged for better viewing effort.
It's nowhere near as intuitive to use as the G7/G9, all the important controls are single button presses away instead of having to go through several menus - critical when shooting street. In fact, I'm using it until I get a Zeiss Ikon rangefinder (takes Leica M-mount lenses and it's cheaper than a Leica MP). And here are the impressions on the G9 (which is the G7 with a bigger screen, 12MP and RAW) from a long time Leica user: http://luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/G9-Japan.shtml
I am not saying g7 and g9 are not good camera (indeed their pic. qualities are among the best), but it really depends how my requirements are. I need it to be small and handy enough to carry around, longer zoom and importantly the get rid red-reduction device. It is almost certain that all snap shot cameras (include g-series cannon) are bad red eye productions. The tech. in TZ5 is able to get rid the red eye almost instantly when you take the shot.... this is the one tech. important to me.
During this trip to Japan this Summer, I take charge, one weighty Nikon D80 with 18-135mm lense, one movie camera, this TZ5 and one Sony Cybershot... their chargers and batteries, and sometime I need to walk along with my Laptop for shopping too. So, you see, size and weight sometime is very important.
