Their surprise move, however, won’t make it any easier for Malaysia’s Zulfadli Zulkifli to become the country’s first world junior singles champion as defending champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark will be one of his major stumbling blocks. Zulfadli said that China’s absence had not diluted the quality of the boys’ singles event. “We were surprised with China’s decision to skip this year’s world junior meet. I am not sure of the reason but there is talk that it may be due to politics, with Taiwan being the host,” said Zulfadli. “China’s absence doesn’t make much of a difference. Axelsen is the player to beat. We also have good players from other countries like South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia and India. “With so many contenders, it won’t be easy.” Zulfadli, however, is determined to end the year as the most successful player in the country. In July, the 18-year-old created history by becoming the country’s first Asian junior champion in Lucknow, India. “This is my last year as a junior player and I want to end it by creating another piece of history. I want to be the country’s first player to win both the Asian and world junior titles,” he said. Zulfadli, however, said that China’s absence had thrown open the race in the mixed team event. “Traditionally, China are the favourites to win the team event. Axelsen can even take a game off Peter Gade and beat Taufik. Of course Taufik is in the dumps and he's been sparring with Peter Gade so he probably knows Peter's game in and out. But it proves that Axelsen is already around the top 20 level in the world, similarly to Ratchanok and Tai although he hasn't beat the top 4(as if anyone else can do it easily!)

The MAS junior team did well in the team event. I would love to see Viktor Axelsen vs ZZ, but the odds might not work in ZZ's favour. Wonder if BAM still trying to lure ZZ to join them, or did they already succeed?
Don't know if BAM really is better than KLBA these days? KLBA seems to be working for him, he is doing good.
