That's scary. I only snapped my previous 2 on mishits but they were really far off centre one was like 2 inches below the 1 position and the other 3 inches from the 4 position.

Looks like the dodgy batch has caught up with me, really annoying when it's a customer's racquet.

Packs of white, I never had an issue with a reel.

I don't think it is a dodgy batch, I think that's just how it is. Not impressed with this string at all, 800 & 880 are the Victor strings to go for.
And worse if its a customers racquet........

I've done around 30 VS850 racquets, it's not the way it is with this string at all.

Just going on my experience, 4 lots used and 4 very early breakages, 2 for me and 2 for my son.
Its a shame as I really like the 800 & 880, and I wanted to like the 850, but really didn't get the chance.

    Packs.
They were supplied as samples and then extra packs supplied after the first 2 packs went so quickly.
2 in Yellow, then 2 in White.

I've done a reel and a half without issues but switched to 800 for customers so just got packs of 850 for myself and customers who love it, the packs have both broken really quickly.

Hmm...seems like the packs have been trending as the problematic ones. Why not invest in a reel for the long run db?

Packs, and yellow packs, especially - something must be happening during the pack-forming stage.

The problem is that whoever is OEMing for Victor might be doing so for others...

It has been suggested that the packs were at fault.
Not too bothered about investing in a reel as there are plenty of strings out there to try, and as I said, having tried the 800 & 880, they were good, so I would go for one of those.

I've had reels until recently, switched most average customers to 800 so only really needed to keep a few packs for personal use and for the odd mate I string for.

Latest attempt with yellow vs850 from a pack didn't explode when pulling 27lb crosses, which was nice.

There were 4 but one needed cutting out ;)

I've found an advantage to being sub-averagely weak, the string just laughs off my attempts to break it with misshits.

I forgot how good vs850 sounds. Like Zymax but angrier.

Yes. VS-850 sounds amazing. I had to play with BG80 in lieu of 850 and despite how good it is it just doesn't play or sound the same as 850 for me. I actually feel less confident using 80

    Walked into that one...

Regarding "too tight", I always found I had to overshoot by a pound or two and let it "land" on the required tension - I'd do a 32/33 and leave it for a couple of days.
