yeah I agree with that. I was trying to say that gillian clark often characterises those 'desperation' shots as "trick shots", but to me they aren't really trick shots at all. At the same time, I dislike the term "trick shot" because it doesn't really seem to cover (for example) overhead shots which are highly deceptive. So I prefer to talk of deceptive shots than trick shots.
Since i never really saw hendrawan's play..i would vote for PG,Sigit.B for now then..Hehe..eager to watch some videos of hendrawan.. Anyone r willing to share?

oh returning those smashes aren't that special tho... a lot of practice can get you there. I mean like he's doing it to practice. Like in tournaments, I've dive for shot before when playing mixed doubles. I remember i was smashing from the right-side of the court straight down and it returned to the left-deep end and so i had to launch myself from middle court and then i dived for it for that extra reach... oh man i had a bad knee scrap that day. Also do you notice that the player smashing is left-handed, like the two back court players are left handed... and you know what that means? Lee Chong Wei is preparing for Lin Dan... wow!
trick shot is not desperation shot..is completely different just notice when sigit encounter smash from behind the legs , it 90% all the ecounter don't return perfectly. so trick shot use to trick opponent and gain some point and to give opponent hardtime. trickshot = deceptive shot peter gade n hendrawan is the best
id say; for singles.. 1. Peter Gade - seen so many deception from him against Shoji in World Championships in 2006. 2. Taufik Hidayat - between the legs, around the back & the backhand! 3. Lin Dan - may not seem like it, but he is deceptive when he wants to be. doubles.. 1. koo kien keat - the net master, very decpetive when playing the net. 2. sigit - between the legs.

he could only trick relatively inexperienced (yes i know he was a silver medalist in the olympic before) shon seung mo. dont think he could pull that off against taufik, gade or lin dan,

every top player has thier trick shots. Gade: hold and flick backhand clear Taufik: hold and flick forhand clear Chen Hong / Lin dan: hold and drop backhand net shot my fav would be Gade's backhand clear against Chen Hong
yes, every top player do trick shots against each other, but not often and most of the time the opponent can still read the trick shot and be prepared for it. so i am thinking a master should be able to do it regularly. and in reference to the quote below was the reason i think LCW could use a lot of tricks because he was playing against shon seung mo. if it was against the other top players i dont think he would have used too many trick shots. anyway i just want to say, trick shots are cool. love seeing top players use it. makes the game more entertaining.
