I am planning to sell off my film-based canon SLR and speedlite as well and to buy D90, any recommendation for me to sell off at good $.
body will be hard to sell or sell at good price. lenses and speedlite may fetch something. depending on type and condition. or... just stay with canon dslr.
^^New or used??..^^ ..if either, you are also getting ripped off. I can get that kit for less than $1300 (before shipping to your country). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/580422-REG/Nikon_25448_D90_SLR_Digital_Camera.html In fact, for the price you mentioned ($1515), i can get an extra lens for less price (before shipping to your country). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/649282-REG/Nikon__D90_SLR_Digital_Camera.html
if your really serious about it you wont bother to get the 55-200mm VR its way to slow at f/4-5.6 save up for a f/2.8 it will be worth it
yes, sigma is faster, much faster. but, it is not as sharp as tamron. from 135 till 200mm, it performs poorly. after think for a while, getting a 200mm f/2.8 and not performing, kind of bad idea. furthermore what if added with 1.4 or 1.7X teleconverter? is up to individual, either pick good performer or good AF. want both world plus VR, get the Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 at 2X ++ price.
completely agree! haha i know the sigma works good with its own sigma TC but cant comment on tamron TC and nikkor TC. it all depends if you want more IQ or fast AF.
nikon's new 70-200 VR2 is coming out this month so you might be able to get a cheaper 70-200 VR1 soon.
I'm in a similar situation as well and I'm not too sure what I should be doing: Currently: D90, 18-105, 50.8, SB600 What I was thinking was tio get rid of the the kit lens and get am A16 (B005 IMO is not worth the extra money) and buy a good telephoto.
I got myself the D90+18-105 lens (Complete set at slightly more than US$1k). Considering to buy 50mm lens after some recommendation from my friend.
also recommend the 35/1.8. i find myself using the 35mm focal length much more than 50mm. i eventually sold the 50mm and the 35mm is my most used lens.
you have 18-105. now, go out and shoot. set it at 35mm and then set to 50mm. then you will know which focal length is the most useful to you.
The 50mm lens is quite cheap (around US$100) here. That is one primary reason I am considering it also as my friend uses it often to take close-up pics.
D90 has built AF motor. thus, the 50mm f/1.8D and f/1.4D is able to AF with D90 but not with D40. if you use them with D40, metering is working but not AF. if you are using D40, you need either AFs 50mm f/1.4 and AFs 35mm f/1.8 for full compatibility. and now, D7000 able to meter with much older lens such AI lenses. yum... yum....
probably too late to post reply... but this is what i have: nikon d90 nikon 18-200mm (you'll eventually hate changing out the 18-55 and 55-200 if you do regular photography to take all kinds of picture) nikon 35mm 1.8 (that's really equivalent to the 50mm on a full frame. Great for potrait and definitely good for food shots) Rokinon 85mm 1.4 (i got this because i wanted to snap photos in low light and still do it fast... no AF. i used to use this quite a bit, but not much anymore after i got my flash) nikon sb-800 (got used, good deal, otherwise 600 and up is good) tokina 11-16mm 2.8 (for wide angle shots) want to change out 18-200 for 2.8 lenses as i get more used to shots i want to do (more blurring and faster capture in low light)... but above has satisfied me so far (you can take out the Rokinon, not applicable to most people and i got it when i was new... but loved the bokeh on shots i took... itz sooo sweet).
sold my new one to u at discount price, had to go hunt for used one mah... found used one for like 170 >.<; no box, no warranty... just lens with front and back cap... not even free filter... see how nice i am to u...
