Hmmm ... must be due to Lin Dan's PLA training as an ARMY OFFICER (Lt Col ? if I am not mistaken) ...

I agree with visor that a lot of the difference between LD and LCW is personality... some inborn, some acquired.
But one has to be careful how far to interpret data such as an isolated photograph. One could assert that this photo demonstrates LCW taking a subservient posture to LD. But if we weren't there then we can't know the whole context. The conversation may very well have given a different impression:
LD: I'm not going to pull your finger!
    LCW: Just pull my finger.
LD: I don't understand this. Why should I pull your finger?
LCW: You'll love it -- Taufik just taught me. C'mon, pull my finger!

I had several discussions with Fred Tan why Chong Wei couldn't edge Lin Dan on big tournaments and i wasn't surprise at all when he says both of them is trying to avoid each other ... at all cost :D

Sorry, but you're wrong - I have a player in my badminton sessions who is a leftie, and he is a tough cookie to handle.

Even the best player in our group admitted that he has a major advantage being a leftie - all shots made must be "REVERSED", which is not an easy thing per se.

I do agree that lefties have their shots reversed so to speak, and that what I've seen is that lefties think differently. However ur example of that one player from ur club/gym is not enough to conclude that lefties have an advantage! From what I have observed there could be more people playing using left than right hand to play badminton so the encounter is not as frequent? So when they do face one in a game

I had always thought LD and LCW were close in technical skills, except LD was always the better net player. After today's match at the World Championship where LD turned to "rallying" mode, I think the skill gap of this version of LD is much higher than LCW. Only LD can "rally" against the #1 ranked player in the world. He didn't even smash much against LCW today - just rallied with LCW the whole match.

This is not good for LCW's future matches with LD because LD can conserve so much energy with this "rallying" style of his that can still beat LCW's style.

Agreed, spot on. The 'rally' that you talk about, LCW is nowhere close to LD's control in that aspect. I have a feeling that this might be the dawn of a new modern badminton style.

Ratchanok has proven that the Chinese can be beaten.

There must be a way to beat Lin Dan.

i think the reason is because lcw team make excuses for losing. the wild card to lin dan really upset him which indicated how he felt playing against lin dan. he didnt believe he could beat a lin dan that took a year off. now its the air conditioning that cheated lcw. he needs to change his mentality or he wont end up winning any wc or og golds in his career. good thing is that the wc is yearly so he has more chances.
