Yonex Arc7 / Arc 7 / Arcsaber 7 review First session with this racket. Will give my thoughts on it, rather than a professional review. I also tried to use orthodox grips as seen on Badminton Bible (http://www.badmintonbible.com/articles/grips-guide/). This may have changed my overall play somewhat. Last racket was Ti-10 2nd gen. After that broke, I used an Armortec 800DE for a few days/sessions. then tried out my new Arc 7 today. strung with BG80 @ 24lbs (2 piece/4 knot) First impressions (warm up): my timing was often wrong, clears were half-court, shuttle hit the frame quite a few times. only problem i had was with overhead shots. but i'm guessing this is because of the new racket and gripping techniques. the Arc 7 feels really easy to swing, net shots were brilliant - tight and close to the tape. Attack (smashes, drives etc): seems like i have actually slightly more power with the Arcsaber 7. this could be due to the 'new' ways i grip my racket but could also be due to the more flexible shaft as compared to the Ti-10. Defence (smash returns etc): wonderful. i seem to have better defence when using this racket. seems like it was really easy to swing and manoeuvre the racket. smash returns to the back court were quite easy. smash returns to the net were brilliant - the shuttle just passed the tape, quite tight. Control (drop shots, net shots etc): drop shots were ok, not much difference to the Ti-10. i would say the problem lies in my new gripping though, so it could very well be just me and not the racket. excited to see how this will develop after i get used to the new gripping techniques, if i ever do. net shots were great, as i pointed out earlier. tight net shots with almost perfect height. half court push was pretty good. generally, the racket seems to be able to guide the shuttle to exactly where i wanted it to be, particularly in block defence. to conclude, the Yonex Arcsaber 7 appears to be quite the control & defence racket, even better than the AT800DE. i can't say much about how it fairs in power-play because i wouldn't say i'm a power-player myself. but then, i experienced a slight increase in power, so it will be good to see how everything comes together once i play with it more.
been playing with the racket for a few more sessions, so i'm adding to my previous post (#447 of this thread) on my opinion on the Arcsaber 7. Attack: I seem to generate more power in smashes with this racket compared to the Ti-10. i'm actually quite surprised by this, considering most of the other reviews i have read have complained about the lack of power. been smashing the best so far with this racket, but that could just be improvements in my technique, gameplay and whatnot. can't comment too much on drives because of my technique or lack thereof. Defence: brilliant, as pointed out in the previous post. Control: Drop shots were ok. fairly accurate, able to direct the shuttle to where i aim. but i actually experienced slightly better drop shots with the Ti-10. net shots however, are extremely pleasing. there's such good control with this racket. nice tight netshots, even when under pressure.
During last training I tested it and I was suprised how powerful this racket is. Well, maybe it's because I've been playing with MP99 for last three years and don't know what other rackets are like. I also remember testing Armortec 900T (which did not suit me) and ArcSaber 7 is far more powerful (both rackets were stung with BG65Ti, sth about 29 lbs). This racket also has great control and it feels great to play with it at the front of the court. Flat drives were great too. I'm a doubles player, so it's essential for me, and therefore I decided to buy ArcSaber 7.
hi there, can u recommend me which yonex racket that feel a bit heavy on the head but lighter on the grip plus the price is around RM300-400?
How does Arcsaber 7 perform compared with ti-10 3rd gen(purple)? In terms of swing speed, smashing power, defence and placing...I need to find a replacement for my ti-10 3rd gen...
@KLFreedom Ti.10 3rd gen : Head Light & Stiff to extra stiff shaft. maybe you could try, NS9000S or NS9900. IMO, Yonex arc 7's head is heavier than TI.10 3rd gen, however arc 7 shaft is not as stiff as Ti.10 3rd gen. Why do you need to change racket? Why don't you buy another Ti.10 3rd gen, if it really suits you.
