2 years ago, at the Malaysian Open : The 22-year-old Daren, who is not even ranked among the top 100 in the world, dumped Thai number one Boonsak Ponsana with a hard-fought 24-22, 19-21, 21-17 win in 69 minutes. He will take on Taiwanese Hsieh Hsuan-yi for a place in the quarter-finals. Daren could have scored a straight-game win over Boonsak, who is ranked 13th in the world, after taking a comfortable lead at 19-14 in the second game. But he lacked the experience to seal it. He came back more fired up in the rubber game and hung on to win the match. Daren could have scored a straight-game win over Boonsak, who is ranked 13th in the world, after taking a comfortable lead at 19-14 in the second game. But he lacked the experience to seal it. Daren said the win was more than just a good result for him. “I have the problem of losing after holding a lead. I was on the verge of winning at 19-17 against Chen Hong in the Macau Open last year but I lost. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ And now today, his problem still persists. He was leading 20-15 against Wong Wing Ki in the first game, but managed to scrape out 22-20 in the end. He was leading 19-13 in the second game, but in the end it was 23-21
If Darren Liew beat DPY tomorrow, it is a big breakthrough... I hope he can nail it tomorrow... BOLEH
If I'm not mistaken, uncle Wong lost to Sho Sasaki in a very tight rubber games at Australian Open 2011... but Arif...? He is the same batch with Chen Long and Tago... still BOLEH?
I think LDR's stamina will still be his biggest concern besides others short comings............DPY is a very fit and hard working player !

Friday April 22, 2011 The Star Khim Wah may have found a doubles partner in Wei Shem By RAJES PAUL PETALING JAYA: Doubles shuttler Lim Khim Wah’s long search for a regular partner may finally come to an end. Yesterday, he did well with Goh Wei Shem to reach the quarter-finals of the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) in Chengdu, China, after scoring a convincing 21-16, 21-10 win over Thailand’s top pair of A. Songphon-Sudket Prapakamol. The duo will take on three-time world champions Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng today for a place in the semi-finals. Getting it right: Lim Khim Wah (right) has forged an understanding with Goh Wei Shem and the duo have managed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Asian Badminton Championships in Chengdu, China. The top seeds Chinese can expect the Malaysians to give them a run for their money if the determination of the latter in the tournament thus far is anything to go by. This is only Khim Wah’s third outing in a tournament with Wei Shem. They made their debut as a pair in the Malaysian International Challenge in Sabah last November and won the title. They were semi-finalists in the New Zealand Open early this month. Khim Wah has been without a regular partner since his partnership with Chan Peng Soon was split last year. With Peng Soon, he had won the 2009 Thailand Open. National back-up coach Tan Kim Her is happy with the steady progress showed by Khim Wah-Wei Shem, who are now ranked 142nd in the world. “This pair have showed good promise and can give them an assurance that they will be given more opportunities to compete in international tournaments,” he said. “Both are players with good power and strength. I will wait until end of the year to review their partnership. Until then, I plan to give them ample chances to prove themselves.” On their quarter-final match today in the ABC, Kim Her said: “The odds are certainly against our boys but I hope they will not make it easy for the Chinese pair. Although Cai Yun-Haifeng are older, they are very fast. I hope Khim Wah-Wei Shem can keep up with them.” Khim Wah-Wei Shem are the only Malaysian players left standing in the tournament after yesterday competition. Back-up shuttler Liew Daren went down fighting 16-21, 21-19, 19-21 in a third round match against Du Pengyu of China, dashing a hope to make his first quarter-final appearance this year. It was also the end of road for the women’s pair of Vivian Hoo-Lim Yin Loo and Marylen Ng Paou Leng-Woon Khe Wei. In the women’s singles, Lydia Cheah also lost in the second round. I think in general we have the largest pool of MD specialist among the countries just need to find the correct click, hope Ah Wah can have achieve more glory with GWS too bad after his win with CPS in Thailand Open, they did not achieve anymore breakthrough...
Indonesia's Angga/Rian have made it to the finals of a Super Series event... but for Malaysian youngsters, they are still changing partners and cause one upset or two but lose in next round
