I am not really clear....I believe that she has not stayed in HKG for 2 yrs yet...just been told when I had dinner
You may want to verify with your source, as Uber/Thomas cup criteria is not as strict as the Olympic Games or the Asian Games. I remember in 2000, Agus Haryanto, Njoto, and Wang Chen all played for HK in the Thomas/Uber Cup. Wang Chen was in HK for less than a year. Haryanto and Njoto may not have been in HK for 2 years as well (at least Njoto was not allowed to play in 2004 Olympics 4 years afterwards)
mY sources? from HK players....actually I am shocked also.....even Alroy Tanama Putra was not sure if he would be allowed but since they are leaving on sunday, I guess he is playing....thats what I mean..I am not clear....
Olympics is very strict. You have to be a citizen AND (if you have converted citizenship) you must also have lived in that country for a number of years. BWF is not that strict but there are still some requirements.
If ZM is not eligible, than HK world team ranking should be adjusted to cater for that. The ranking is based on the strength of the WS squad, that's why HK is above Korea.
As I am writing, HKG has not decided who will be 3rd single....I hope we will know more by Friday who will be going...I know that HGK will try Wang Chen/Yip as 2nd WD... One of HKG players told me that there is some changes regarding the rules but I have not seen in BWF website....
In 1st simulation between Singapore and Djarum club as follows: 1. Men competition SIn def Djarum 3-2 Singapore won all 3 singles and lost all doubles to Djarum 2.Women competition SIN def Djarum 3-2 Singapore won 1 single ( Maria Elfira lost) and won 2 doubles but Djarum won 2 singles I do not have the scores.. The 2nd simulation will be on Feb 15.. Singapore has a lot to do if they want to qualify toJakarta...
My appologies. When you first said that you were not very clear, I thought it's because there something is fishy about your source. But now that you've mentioned that your sources are from HK players, I now know that your information should be very accurate. Sorry about that. If ZM is indeed not allowed to play, I hope to see Mong Kwun Yi playing HK's 3rd singles and get more international exposure. I thought she did OK when she played against Tracey Hallam during last year's HK Open. From your other post, I will say it's very interesting that Wang Chen and Yip Pui Yin will play 2nd doubles. Chan Chi Choi must have enough faith for Koon Wai Chee/Chau Hoi Wah to be able to get some points from the 1st doubles. Koon Wai Chee/Wang Chen have won many key victories in doubles during team events, and this the reason why HK did well in Uber Cup, Sudirman Cup, and the Asian Games back in the early 2000's.
No problem...I would like to see ZM play also....until now, even they registered the players' name, they are not sure who will be going until l;ast minute...more likely today, we will know more and I will update you guys........in the training Wang Chen/Yip played well against HK's Louisa Koon/Chau...
If ZM plays, HK will be a great threat to CHN if they qualify. Wonder if the rules were, ahem "adjusted" to some party's favour ......
HKG needed Zhou Mi for her experience and Leadership. If she can't play for HK.. she can still be the coach for Team HKG during the Olympics.
Wang Chen is not bothered about team event. She is only interested in qualifying for Olympics and doing well for the last time she plays in Olympics. So, she will not risk herself to play Singles and doubles.
Hehe......not sure....I have invitation to go there...hehe...I have meetings in china next week.....I would like to see HKG vs Thailand on Wed or thursday...anyway....lets see!! I have promised to INA players that if one of them being in final, I would be there...but I got sick... oen of them hated me...
2nd simulation between SIN vs Djarum a. Men competition Djarum def Sin 3-2 b. Women competition Sin def Djarum 3-2 Sin team will leave for Vietnam tomorrow noon and they will travel extensively for one month ( vietnam,German Open, AE and Swiss Open)
Errr...the Qualification tournaments DO OFFER important Olympics points. Its quite a juicy one as well (ranking point/10 + sum of total ranking points of all opponents/100), and Wang Chen should play at least 1 WS match to ensure she gets at least 6292 points (almost equivalent to Semi-Finals for SS events in her case!).
Should we arrr... separate a thread for Uber team if it will be easier to read? Starting from tomorrow, it's gonna be hot in here and having both Men and Women teams in the same thread could be confusing. So does India team coming or not?
Is Alroy a HK Citizen already ? When did he goes to HK ? I learnt that he started playing in 2006 for HK. I also know HK not so easy to get citizenship. He holds HK passport ?
