THE ECLIPSE FOR MALAYSIAN SINGLE BADMINTON IS COMING With no MS breaking through from the back up squad, Mas single players in the future would not be interesting, not when China's Chen Long and Wang look set to dominate in the years after LD and LCW retires or become too senior to sustained the punishing requirement of top flight badminton. I just hope when LCW retires or take a back seat role after OG2012. Tan, Choo and Chong could turn themselves into Ong Ewe Hock or Yong Hock Kin who are competent enough at team level but mediocre at individual events. I dont see them becoming LCW or even Wong. But then again they werent top players when they were juniors either. M'sia best hope could be Iskandar, and flamboyant Syawal or diffident Ramdan Misbun who may come to the fore post 2013 when they are 22 or 23 when they ought to make breakthrough at that age. Zulfadli and Wei Sheng are for 2016. BAM should send Iskandar, Syawal and Ramdan and those in their age group to International challenge tournament. They werent doing enough for Tan Chong and Choo. Rashid may have been a good player but a a coach I doubt he can lift their game.
Change of mindset vital http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/articles/i0kne0eke/Article/index_html cps,lkw and twk should just concentrate in xd we have more than enough md player to excel
Oops, forgot abt news CPS/GLY's win The Star Online > Sports Monday April 19, 2010 Young pair win Malaysia's first major mixed doubles title By RAJES PAUL PETALING JAYA: Youngsters Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying made Malaysian badminton history yesterday when they became the country’s first ever mixed doubles champions in a top–flight international tournament. The duo clawed their way back from the brink of defeat to upset world No. 14 Yoo Yeon-seong-Kim Min-jung of South Korea 21-17, 20-22, 21-19 in a 66-minute rollercoaster final of the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) in New Delhi. Another back-up pair, Woon Khe Wei-Vivian Hoo, failed to make it a double joy when they went down 10-21, 6-21 to sixth seeds Pan Pan-Tian Qing of China in the women’s doubles final. The mixed doubles has always been considered one of the weakest links for Malaysia in the past but Peng Soon-Liu Ying’s exploits may change all that. Breakthrough triumph: Chan Peng Soon (left) and Goh Liu Ying in action against South Korea’s Yoo Yeon-seong-Kim Min-jung during the ABC mixed doubles final in New Delhi on Sunday. – AFP Prior to their win, Malaysia had never achieved any outstanding results in the mixed doubles. Among the notable previous achievements were Chew Choon Eng-Chor Hooi Yee’s gold medal victory at the 1999 Brunei SEA Games, Choon Eng-Chin Eei Hui’s silver medal effort at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games and Koo Kien Keat-Wong Pei Tty’s bronze medal feat at the 2006 World Championships in Madrid. In fact, none have made it to the mixed doubles final in the home tournament – Malaysian Open – since the event was introduced in 1967. Peng Soon-Liu Ying are now assured of tickets for their maiden World Championships in August and they are also set to break into the top 20 bracket in the world rankings for the first time. Peng Soon, who will celebrate his 22nd birthday on April 29, was on cloud nine after the breakthrough performance in the regional tournament. ”This is the best ever surprise. I never thought we would be able to win here. We had lost to the Koreans in the same tournament at the quarter-finals last year but, this time, we had our revenge,” said Peng Soon in a telephone interview. “It feels amazing to be the first Malaysian pair to win at the ABC and also the first to do so in a senior international tournament. “The win did not come easy for us but we did not give up although the odds were stacked against us.” After a hard-fought opening game win, the Malaysians looked good to wrap up the match after staging a great comeback from 14-18 to level at 20-20 in the second game. But their eagerness to win saw the Koreans dragging them into the decider. Things looked bleak for Malaysia when Liu Ying had to take a short break due to a knee pain while trailing 6-11 in the rubber game. But she surprised everyone by hanging on and the Malaysians slowly but surely got back into the game to romp home for a 21-19 win. It is the second title for Peng Soon after having won the men’s doubles with Lim Khim Wah at the Thailand Open last year. The 20-year-old Liu Ying was on top of the world yesterday. “Peng Soon and I had problems before this ABC meet. I was quite negative about the partnership and I lacked trust. But we mended our differences and today Peng Soon played really well,” said Liu Ying. The Star Online > Sports Monday April 19, 2010 Rexy: Breakthrough triumph result of two years of hard work PETALING JAYA: Patience is a virtue and yesterday it was proven true. For all the hard work the coaches have put in to establish the mixed doubles department over the last two years was finally rewarded with Malaysia’s first significant title. Youngsters Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying beat South Koreans Yoo Yeon-seong-Kim Min-jung 21-17, 20-22, 21-19 in 66 minutes to emerge as the mixed doubles champions in the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) in New Delhi. It was the country’s first mixed doubles title in a top flight tournament. Malaysia only began focusing on strengthening the mixed doubles after the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Doubles chief coach Rexy Mainaky selected a few potential youngsters and put them under coach Jeremy Gan with the aim of preparing them for the 2012 London Olympics. Rexy, though happy with the pair’s breakthrough, hoped that the result would not be a flash in the pan. “We knew it would take time to establish the mixed doubles department when we started to focus on it two years ago. “Compared to other countries like China, South Korea, Denmark and Indonesia, we are infants as far as mixed doubles is concerned. There was no full-time and specialised training for mixed doubles players,” said Rexy. “We changed that about two years ago and I am happy to see a breakthrough. Credit to Chan and Goh for their achievement and I must also thank Jeremy and the other coaches for their efforts.” Jeremy was glad that Peng Soon-Liu Ying managed to end the long wait for a mixed doubles title in an international tournament. “We had achieved results in the junior ranks, winning the Asian and World junior titles, but somehow we’ve always failed to get it right in the senior ranks until now,” said Jeremy. http://thestar.com.my/services/printerfriendly.asp?file=/2010/4/19/sports/6083459.asp&sec=sports
yeah cps should same age with chp and razif/kcc which is 24 they are same batch yup patient thats why double department is always better than single with rexy as the chief coach as for rashid, hopefully cps,lkw and twk go for xd ONLY but abit tough as they are in the md elite now we have more than enough md in future for fuzzy, can sapu them after tc i doubt hth and osh can stay for 2 more year in team so does razif if no result
I hope Mak/Tan are potential decent MD or put Mak back with Teo Kok Siang, then Tan Wee Kiong can focus on XD with WKW. Or both focus on MD and WD respectively although they won the WJC XD title
I don't think they will be let go for another 2 more years because of some issue No chance for other MD
CPS seems to have good mental strength... good strategist & power in smashes.... The best THINKER in Msia team?

Thien How vows to step out of Boon Heong’s shadow “I won the most prized title in the junior ranks with Boon Heong six years ago. He was my first partner and I was very happy for him when he was doing well in the senior ranks. But I was feeling miserable because I had nothing much to show for when I joined the senior team,” he said. Soon Hock is my sixth partner and, hopefully, with him, I will be able to enjoy the best years of my career,” said Thien How. “I joined the BAM Academy when I was in Form One. “Finally, I will get to realise my dream to represent the country in the Thomas Cup Finals. It has been a long wait but it has been worth it. “I was so happy when I was named as one of the team members. “Currently, our status is that of a reserve pair. But we will be ready to prove ourselves if we are given a chance to play in any of the ties.” http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2010/4/25/sports/6127736&sec=sports of course i hope every pair can done well we have the depth and strength teo/goh is in vietnam ic final well done

The Star Online > Sports Tuesday April 27, 2010 Kok Siang finally nails senior title PETALING JAYA: Former world junior champion Teo Kok Siang finally landed his first senior title at the Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge on Sunday. Together with Goh Wei Shem, the duo pulled of an upset to beat world No. 59 Kim Ki-jung-Shin Baek-cheol of South Korea in a 48-minute men’s doubles final. The unseeded Kok Siang-Wei Shem are ranked at world No. 114 while the Koreans have the credentials of having beaten several higher ranked pairs, including top Chinese Guo Zhengdong-Xu Chen in the Korean Open in January. It was Kok Siang’s first senior title since the coaches decide to split his partnership with Mak Hee Chun in 2008 after the duo won the world junior title in Pune, India. The achievement is certainly a boost for the men’s doubles department in the country and it showed that Malaysia have several pairs with the potential to take over the mantle from the seniors. http://www.thestar.com.my/services/printerfriendly.asp?file=/2010/4/27/sports/6135407.asp&sec=sports
Congratulations to Goh/Teo from bouncing back from an easy BAC defeat from Cho/Yoo to beat another Korean pair in the finals of the Hanoi Vietnam IC.
