Choosing a racket under £40

    Hi there,

    I am looking to buy my first racket... The more i am read the more i am confused :( there are too many models single character/number change changes everything in racket as shown in racket description. So i have decided to fire my question (sorry if already there are threads)

    Budget: max £40
    Condition: Doesnt matter even if used even if its in good condition.
    Height: 5'6" (i think if it matters for choosing one)
    Other games played: TT and Cricket (if it somehow impacts the decision)
    Struggle area: Picking up drops and delivering drops close to net.
    Tried: I borrowed one racket from one of mates it was quite balanced light and i liked it (carlton ~£70)

    Thanks a lot guys... it would be great if you can suggest where can i buy it.

    what is your play style, offensive, defensive, or all around?
    are you playing single or double?
    do you have good power?
    are you beginner, intermediate, or advance?
    which area do you want to improve? more power for smash? more control for bird placement?
    last question: what brand do you prefer? are you only consider Yonex or you don't mind with another brand?

    if you can answer all of these it would help us to determine which racket is suitable for you

    one thing that I can tell you, your selection is pretty limited if only up to £40

    Style of play: All around but more inclined towards offensive.
    Mostly doubles.
    Beginner
    I would love to improve offensive player.
    Any band will do.

    I would stay away from yonex as at that price, you really wont get much.

    I would look fro medium flex head or carlton. This one is a good deal,

    It is a slightly older model but used to sell for much closer to 90GBP.

    The Head PH7000 is a great call - it's only one step down from what the runner-up English pair used at the All England in 07:). In fact, Head is a good brand, badminton-wise, for low-end rackets, as they have to price themselves slightly under Yonex and co. to be competitive.

    You should also have a look at APACS.
