In the match, XS was trying to finish his opponent off by attacking aggressively right from the beginning but as THW was able to thwart his attacks by throwing everything back at him, he grew tired towards the end and was forced several times to play some rallies at which time THW turned the tables on him and seized the opportunities to go on the attack instead. It showed that XS has to be wary of superb defenders and learn to construct the rally and bide his time sometimes. Hope somebody can put some of those videos on youtube, viz. THW-LCW, XS-AlamYunus, and THW-XS so that more people get to view them. This two young gladiators are a delight to watch, hope CBA give them more exposure and field them in more tournaments. The good news is we'll be seeing both THW and XS in the NZ Open next week. However the draw for XS isn't so good as he is slated to meet Qiao Bin in R2.

These guys are really ignorable... Guys like this always think only China makes badminton a victim, in fact they themselves and what they now behave (simply ignore excellency in badminton) are unfortunately poisonous to badminton and making badminton a victim even more....
We should encourage new comers to challenge and overtake the oldies, no matter which countries they may come from, only this could make a sports continue to be prosperous and sustainable. therefore congratulations to THW, XS, the 3 INA title winners / winning pairs, and badminton sport, with your emergence, we see new hopes in badminton future!

A well deserved victory from THW in today's final. Showed calmness and had a great control of the game especially the 3rd set. Saw him in Malaysia during AJC a few years back, and i thought that this lad is da guy to watch in the future. To me, his style is a bit like LD and his smash is explosively powerful. P/s he is from Fujian province which came from the same place as LD And he's a lefty.. what a coincident.
It's been quite some time since we've seen a up and coming MS player being able to scalp much higher ranked opponents when they are just fresh onto the scene. When LD/LCW/BCL (TH belonged to a slightly earlier era IMO) burst into the senior circuit around 2003/2004, they regularly gave the veterans of that period (XXZ, CH, PG, KJ, WCH, etc) a run for their money. Hopefully THW and XS's performances aren't just a flash in the pan like KT's at the AE2010.
Just finished watching MS Semifinal Tian Hou Wei vs Lee Chong Wei. This THW is really SOMETHING !!! He has the power, accuracy, speed, stamina, mentality, etc to be one of the BIG THINGS in the near future. The only one he has not possessed yet is the experience.
Well said.I feel we really have to thank CHN for sending these young guns, the whole lot of them. Their amazing run here makes this GPG special and memorable, to me at least. In fact,CHN can form another team using the best of their second stringers and it will still give the rest of the world a run for their money. Talking about the THW-LCW match, it's truly worth watching, and again if you've already done so; I bet you'll be more than entertained. I just did, watched it for the second time. After that I'm going to watch the replay again of the THW-XS final match.
We've been seeing some really great and refreshing tournaments this year! The Aussie Open 2013 is another eye-opener to the depth of fresh talent that exists in so many countries. And it also underscores the admonition to never let your guard down, as all of the top seeds and pre-tournament favourites have learnt. Congratulations to all the winners!
Its not meaningless at all. In fact, there's very important dialogue that needs to be addressed, not to mention there is a large cultural divide between Western sporting values and Chinese ones that goes a long way to explain why Australian audiences are clearly not as excited as you are .
