O Kwun, patience. You'll get to play with one for the clamp shoot out And yes you can take off the C-Clamp. Currently Herb also has a mount for the WISE for drop weight machines. Mounts to the position where the drop weight would normally go. I think dink posted the wise height earlier in this thread, yea 213-215mm dink says (refer to post #100)
well i am itching... here are current facts and thoughts. the clearance from the horizontal mounting bar to the racket shaft on the ASE is 187mm. around 28mm short for the WISE to have 360 degree rotation. however, i also noticed that the standard mount that comes with a WISE adds a little bit of vertical rise to the whole mechanism. the thought is to not use the default mount and directly mount the WISE onto the ASE's horizontal bar. it might require drilling a couple of holes. that might need to be done anyway as the default mount won't fit the ASE's horizontal bar. if that doesn't give enough clearance, all that's lost is the 360 rotation.
yeah, I also have similar idea last time ... just put the Wise directly into the horizontal mounting bar at least have to make 5 drilling-holes (3 for Wise and 2 for stoppers)
Kwun, have you consider raising the platter? Nothing a thick metal washer couldn't do. This would be a very easy and inexpensive mod.
with the ASE, all the parts are attached via horizontal screws. the turntable itself is not held down by gravity on an axle, the whole bearing mechanism is enclosed. in fact, i can hold the whole ASE upside down without the side support and nothing will fall out. there is no place to insert any washers. except... i can jack the side support up and gain around 5mm worth of vertical, that's about all i can do.
Never will I use a crank again unless forced to. CP + PS from the WISE reminds the long-lost LaserFibre DW experience . . . Like it tight and consistent.
Update! Since Panda heard about the Tennis Head having an updated gripper, Panda purchased one. It was $50 + shipping and it includes the gripper plates, two heavy duty support mounting plates, one each side, two springs and 16 bearings, 8 for each plate. The set-up looks identical to Panda's old set-up. Panda believes Wise just made the gripping plate grooves deeper so they can grip tighter. Regardless of what actually happened, it works great! Stringing is now much smoother and faster without having to use a business card or in Panda's case, a hard rubber film piece actually in the gripper to hold the string secure. Now Panda's "Frankenstein" Machine (PFM) is 95% complete. Here's a list of items on PFM: 1) Eagnas Combo 910: $500 2) Wise 2085 Tennis Head with foot pedal: $535 3) Hi-Qua Premium Badminton Clamps: $150 pair 4) Gamma Cam Locks: $250 pair 5) SP Tennis Badminton Mounts: $50 four 6) Urethane Tubing on the mounts: $1.50 for 1' long Left to do: 1) need to machine SP Tennis' 12 and 6 o'clock press down mounts to fit inside the Combo 910 Then PGM will be 100% complete.
I took the plunge and have a Wise 2086 now on my Exthree machine, and also use a Diablo Attachment, and a Foot Pedal. Stringing has never been so easy, and I will now only use the Wise 2086. I only have to adjust by say 10% lower than requested, so if someone wants a tension of say 24lbs, I will probably string at 22/22.5 Lbs. FYI, cost was £425.00 Ian D "No Strings Attached"
I've ordered the 12 and 6 o'clock press-down mounting system from AEF, and it works perfectly at my Eagnas Combo-912 without modification/machining : http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1126947&postcount=16
Anyone having trouble with their Wise 2086. Occasionaly, I'll turn mine on and it just comes up with the number 1. and flashes. None of the button light up then. Sometimes, if I leave it for 5 hours, it'll work again :-\
Check the electrical connector leading to your machine, rotate the connector. Occasionally it doesn't get power or inconsistent power. Once you rotate and find the "right setting". Tape it down or just make sure the cable is not touched and you should be OK.
Tried the connector and didn't make a difference.. On the plug, theres 2 prongs. One of the prongs has come off... I normally just put the 1 prong in the socket then put the rest of the plug in. Would this give me inconsistent power? Weird how it works sometimes, as its stationary in the kitchen and never moves.
