I am using 3U/4G for 8DX and 3U/5G for VT-80. Based on the Yonex literature, both actually have the same weight (85-89.9g), but perhaps because the extra stiffness that 8DX have rather than VT-80 and VT-80 also have the thinnest shaft and newer technology, then I felt that 8DX is head heavier than VT-80. However, I could be wrong, and please do correct me if I am wrong and my judgment was based on my personal feeling about the rackets..... I bought it at the only sport store that supply Yonex racket in the town where I live, and it was AU$250 comes with a bag, a BG-65 string, and a grip. It was coded AS for Australia I guess and hope that is genuine ^^v
Just played with my JP coded 8DX last Friday for the first time in a long time, and it was amazing!!! So much power from the x-stiff shaft.
Agree with most of the posts in this thread. The 8DX imo, is the best racquet yonex has made in the last 10 years. I've been looking for a racquet to replace my the Ti-10 and MP100 for a long time. I love the forgiveness of the Ti-10 with it's huge sweetspot and the crispness, balance, power and solidness of the MP100 but both have their drawbacks. Having tried many racquets before, the 8DX is what I have been looking for, a combination of both, except there is a very slight reduction in power. It really has everything, a brilliant all rounder.
extra stiff and can take high tension. in general a great make. but it is on great discount lately. sunrise and shuttle house seems to be doing stock clearance on it. why arcs8dx, not others?
demolidor, in msia, i thk its first time sunrise selling their racket wit more than 50% off rrp. i wish they sell their other models with same discount.
Some say it is being part replaced by the Arc11. I think if they keep the ArcSaber series alive, they may bring out a replacement for the 8DX.
DX means it can take a higher string tension than Yonex’s usual standard of 24lbs. It can take an official max. of 27lbs. I dont know if it can *actually* handle higher. I had one. It is an excellent all rounder. Similar to AS11.
All things equal (grip, strings) there is no way its HH than the VT80! Maybe strings heavier and/or grip lighter on your 8DX than the VT u tried and yes, that wld make it feel HHeavier. Bc the 8DX is on the HH side on the even balanced scale.
