Day 3 rounds out the group matches and determines the shape of the semifinals.

    MS Group A
LCW and BCL have a straight fight to determine the group winner.
    Taufik and HYH are out.
    MS Group B
By virtue of beating both BP and PG, PSH is already the winner of the group, even if he loses against JOJ, who has no chance to make the semis.
So, it's a straight fight between PG and BP to determine the runner-up from this group.

    WS Group A
WMC is also guaranteed the winner of the group. The runner-up will be the winner of the match between Porntip and Saina.
    WS Group B
Everyone still has a chance, including Nicole Grether, who must beat Yao Jie and hope that Schenk beats Salakjit, but even in that scenario, it will come down to a tie-breaker (games won-loss, then points won-lost). Schenk is also not guaranteed the semifinal spot unless she beats Salakjit, in which case she will top the group.

    MD Group A
Similarly, everyone's still in it. A win by any of the pairs will either guarantee or give the pair a chance for a semifinal spot.
    MD Group B
This is a straight fight for the table topper between JJS/LYD and CM/MB. The other two pairs are out.

    WD Group A
CEH/WPT have already clinched the top spot no matter their match results today. The other semifinal spot will be determined by Juhl/Kristiansen v Reid/Grether
    WD Group B
Straight fight between Cheng/Chien v Duang Anong/Kunchala for positions 1 and 2 in the group.

    XD Group A
Everyone's still in it. A win is precious.
    XD Group B
Everyone's still in it. A win is precious.

    LCW vs BCL

:crying: Do you predict the match between LCW vs BCL tomorrow will be interestingly "all out fight" to secure group winner?. or either LCW or BCL will be playing to lose just like what Korean did in last Sudirman cup. Because staying in group winner or runner-up does not matter to LCW/BCL?. :crying::confused:

Based on my computation, both Malaysian pairs will advance to SF if they beat their opponents in straights with W-L points not less than 4.
    We'll have 3-way tie with 2-1 in matches & 4-2 in games for Koo/Tan, Fuzzy & Xu/Guo.

Sample computation in W-L in points (both Malaysian pairs win in straights 21-19 21-19):

    Koo/Tan: 74-71 + 42-38 = 116-109 (.5256)
    Fuzzy: 77-74 + 42-38 = 119-112 (.5152)
    Xu/Guo: 90-79 + 38-42 = 128-121 (.5141)

    I hope I'm right! :p

For both MAS pairs to advance, both pairs must win today, but KKK/TBH must win handily in straight sets.
Actually, Fuzzy only needs to win against the Indonesians, be it straight sets or rubber. With KKK/TBH also winning, all 3 pairs (the other being Xu/Guo) will be tied 2-1 in matches. Only the matches among them will matter. Their matches against the Indonesians will not matter.
Current situation (matches among the 3):
    Xu/Guo 1-0 2-0 42-35(+7) (due to 21-18, 21-17 win over Fuzzy)
    KKK/TBH 0-1 0-2 32-42(-10) (due to loss to Fuzzy)
    Fuzzy 1-1 2-2 77-74(+3)
All this is hypothetical (assuming both MAS pairs win today):
    KKK/TBH win in rubber games
    1 Xu/Guo, 2 Fuzzy (in games W-L)
KKK/TBH win in straight games by 4 points or less
    1 Xu/Guo, 2 Fuzzy (in points W-L and Xu/Guo's win over Fuzzy)
KKK/TBH win in straight games by 5 to 8 points
    1 Fuzzy, 2 Xu/Guo
KKK/TBH win in straight games by 9 to 12 points
    1 Fuzzy, 2 KKK/TBH
KKK/TBH win in straight games by 13 points or more
    1 KKK/TBH, 2 Fuzzy

As you may see, Fuzzy just needs a win to guarantee going through, as they are in the top two in all the situations above (and also for other situations like KKK/TBH losing).
While KKK/TBH needs to win in straight sets by 9 points or more to guarantee going through. They can still make it if they win by any margin and Fuzzy lose, but that is depending on the other match.

Looking at your computations, KKK/TBH is really fighting for their survivor today, they have to win it in straight game with only allows Guo/Xu to collect not more than 12 points........which almost not going to happen...;)

Saina Nehwal cruises into last four as runner-up of group A, beat Porntip with straight-sets.

Since MAS's strategy backfired(Fuzzy lost to Xu/Guo), MAS camp may ask Fuzzy pair to lose to INA pair so that KKK/TBH could advance 'cos they have better chance to clinch the title.

    Alvent/Hendra manage third position of Group B as they eliminate Clark/Robertsom, 21-16 ; 21-18.

No, KKK/TBH needs to win in straight sets BY 9 points in total, meaning 21-16, 21-17 will also do. That is a total of 42-33 i.e. winning by exactly 9 points.
