Hoon-Tan are good role models for other pairs, says Kim Her Hoon-Tan are good role models for other pairs, says Kim Her By KNG ZHENG GUAN PETALING JAYA: Doubles coach Tan Kim Her believes national No. 2 pair Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong are role models when it comes to forming a good partnership. The 25-year-old Thien How has combined with many different players in the past, among them Tan Boon Heong, Chan Chong Ming, Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Ong Soon Hock. But the stocky shuttler never really found a permanent partner until he teamed up with Wee Kiong since the Asian Championships this year. The pair have hit it off convincingly, reaching the semi-finals of the Japan Open last month and moving up to 19th in the world rankings. Kim Her believes the duo’s good understanding is something the other national shuttlers can learn from. “I’m quite impressed with Thien How and Wee Kiong as it hasn’t been that long since they were paired,” said Kim Her. “They’ve only played 9-10 tournaments so far but their results are creditable and they are moving steadily up the rankings. “Besides their good attitude in training, they are also very close and help each other when it comes to solving problems. “They have a good working relationship and that’s the most important thing in doubles. “Thien How, especially, has been really impressive now that he has a partner he’s happy with.” Yesterday, Thien How-Wee Kiong started their Pahang Open campaign in Kuantan where they beat Mohd Razif Latif-Mohd Razif Rahman (Nse) 21-12, 21-10. In the men’s singles, top seed Liew Daren and fourth seed Misbun Ramdan Misbun both stayed on course for a semi-final clash after clearing their second-round matches easily. Daren defeated Selangor’s Woon Kok Hong 21-17, 21-15 while Ramdan stopped Negri Sembilan’s Dinesh Velan 21-18, 21-15.
a recent joined back up team WJC Nelson/Teo just crash out by unknown pair in Pahang circuit, no wonder why they are not ready for any big tournament such as GP and SS, even IC they might have difficulty to compete. Known to those who follow the MAS backup team well, unknown to normal Malaysian fans. They are the same pair that beat Hirobe/Kazuno in the first round of MAS GP Gold 2012 for those who can remember that an 'unknown' pair caused an upset there.
latest news: back up pair Chooi Kah Ming/Ow Yao Han just beat the crap out of MAS 'diamond pair' Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong in Pahang Open Circuit...!! And I expected Koo/Tan to be more 'motivated' to improve as a pair after the hoopla on one year to prove themselves....probably dont care about national tournaments. Congrats CKM/OYH!
KKK/TBH wouldnt want to miss their flight to China.. the amount of cash they can get for playing there, guess its too big of a sacrifice to not to play there
what a match between these pairs in Pahang Circuit, congrats to the former WJC Chooi/Ow for reaching final... While we have seen the emerging of many young talented MD pairs to challenge to world top pairs. It is very sad to see that none of them are come from Malaysia. Despite having so many WJC, none of them has made an impact in the senior stage ! What make me worried was, for the past few years , other than Koo/Tan, none of the senior pairs from BAM has managed to make it to to the final for even a small tournament ! Even veteran pairs from KLRC have a good progress Definitely something has went wrong in the training schemes in the MD department of BAM... Even the MS, once the weakest link of Malaysia team has made good progress with the emerging of DL, CWF, Misbun Ramdan, Iskandah etc, I hope the MD chief coach, Tan Kim Her should do something.. otherwise he better step down...
Goh/Lim were actually a pretty good pair with much room for improvement. In fact I don't see any future in the new partnerships with Goh/Ong and Chan/Lim. It was a step backwards.
The problem is Goh ask for divorcement after married Lim for about a year. They can not have good *** life...
Goh V Shem come to your senses and pair back up with Lim Khim Wah... you won't be going anywhere otherwise...
