    Loving the parallels

MANY, many years ago, in the pleasant land of Italy, there was a little city called Alba. It stood on the sunny side of a mountain, near the River Tiber and not far from the Mediterranean Sea. In this city and around the mountain lived a brave, intelligent people known as Latins. Several other tribes inhabited the adjacent mountains and plains.
The Latins were ruled by kings, and one of their kings in very early times was named Aeneas. He was a famous Trojan chief who had come over the seas to Italy and settled there with his family and friends after Troy was destroyed by the Greeks.
A great many years after the death of Aeneas one of his descendants named Procas was king of Alba. He ruled wisely and well for a long time, and his rather small kingdom on the mountain side, with its [10] wheat-fieIds and vineyards, was very prosperous. He had two sons, one named Numitur, and the other Amulius. As Numitor was the elder he was heir to his father's throne, but when King Procas died Amulius seized the kingdom by force and made himself king.
Then Numitor, with his two children, a boy and a girl, left the king's palace at Alba and went to reside on a farm a short distance away.
    II

AMULIUS was now king, but he did not feel quite happy. He was much troubled about Numitor's son and daughter. The son, he thought, might some day claim the right to be king as heir of his father, or the daughter might marry and have a son who could become king as grandchild of Numitor.
To prevent either of these things from happening Amulius had Numitor's son secretly put to death

*Lok Poh - Friend or Foe
*CCC to TITans - a must read for every player chasing success at the top
*KFC no more - a trophy hunter's guide to fast food, fast badminton and fast women
*Grumpy old men - a tale of the pain of playing badminton for more than 20 years with no breaks, only injury, regret and lost trophies and possibly sheer madness chasing the little white birdie for gold:p
*Badminton wives - the untold story of blackmail, bribery, attempted murder and attempted dobbing in spouse to authories for free badminton nights :D
*Badminton girlfriends - the untold prequel story of Badminton wives - same s..t

JL Ultra tournament Results - Titans 0-2

Woah so sick today and had to play badminton tournament:crying:

I played last night and was a little sick, but figured it would help keep the feeling for today, but woke up with sore throat and headache/fever

Pulled myself out of bed for first match and luckily it was an easy one, so tried to save energy for the one against Tristan, but just got off the court and Jacky said I had to play again:mad: Surely the winner of the match gets the advantage not have to play twice in a row:crying:

Tristan got off to a good start and I was expecting my energy to go down, but surprisingly I stayed up ok, sometimes the legs were very slow pre-empting the shot:( He kept probably a 6pt lead up until around 18, then I slowly started to catch him, but hit a few serves too long and after a well fought match, lost 27-30. He then went straight through to final against Vincent, but took him out easily as stamina had gone down after he was sick all week.

Onto doubles, Vincent and I hadn't played doubles together in a tournament since Ballarat 2008 I think? OUr first match against Jimmy/Davy started well and we got to the halfway mark 15-12. Then we seemed to have a bit confusion who to hit what, and a few error and they jumped us by say 6-7pts and kept it going and won 30-22. We did play into their hands too much though and really tactics is the main focus when we get pass 30 I think.

Second match we played some Nemesis guys, but thought we had to beat them more than our lost to Jimmy/Davy, as Nemesis had beaten them 30-24. We totally changed tactics against the Nemesis guys compared to our first match and they started making a lot of errors and trying to rush their game, and we won easily in the end 30-19. I thought that put us in the final, but unfortunately it went on winning points and our 30 and 22 lost to Jimmy/Davy's pts of 30 and 24 DÓH!:crying:

The draw really gave me an ideal chance to get two trophies today, but instead it all turned out bad (though I played pretty well) and missed both finals by small margins - and that is BADMINTON:p

Bring on the Titan/SS interclub match on 5 June, followed by Vic Open 27 June yaaaaaahhh:D

Anthony .. you're reporting skill is shocking .. have no idea what you're trying to say reading what you wrote :p
.. so who won between u and tristen? and was it tristen who played Vincent in the semi? and who won between them?

And who's Yikai Du and Mack Gao? .. they played in B singles as well with Titans as their club.

Well I played today as well in the Badminton Victoria's 3rd round of the new Doubles League .. a comp setup for those too crap to make it into a the state pennent team ;)

.. and Mr Nice guy Greg himself cracked it today .. did a Sammy big time :D
In our double's game against him. There was an arguement over a line call between him and my young team mate and being the most senior person I step in and in an authoritative voice said "Greg that was in" .. he's face puffed up red as a tomato .. and it fired him up .. what was looking like an easy win became a real battle, with Greg and the thai guy he partner started to make up ground .. so from 10 to 20 they started to catch up only to lose 27 to 30 .. Mr nice guy plays better when he's turns into a red hulk

.. and for the record that shuttle landed plum in the middle of the line .. even the thai guy was conceding it was in .. the umpire was calling it in till Greg protested and like soft cheese in a hot pot he gave in and change the call
.. cant really blame him its a scary site when Greg gets all puff up and red, he's a big fella and when he gets angry you just want bolt out of the room and out of harms way :)

overall we lost 4 game to 5 to Gerg's Melbourne Uni team .. but then on our next round match 7 to 3 against the WSBA junior team .. some of their little girl players we're tought :)

haha vien. no i dont play better when i get worked up, i play worse... alot worse. i shouldnt have lost my cool, u guys played well, and deserved the win. your partner's defense was good. man what an exhausting day... by the end of it, my whole body was aching... doubles league, then jt ultra (which i lost first round anyway LoL!).
u mean Sammy cracks it at line calls? i was right there on top of the shuttle and i saw that it was out, not by much, but out none the less. either way, umpire agreed with the girl on the side who said 'no it was in' like 5 minutes after we resumed play, she's on your team, of course she's going to say it was in. i pride myself on not cheating or calling things in or out when they're not, no matter the score or who's winning. but i get super angry when my honesty is in question, which is why from that point, my game went down the gurgler.
all good, at the end of the day, it's comforting to know that it's doubles league, and as vien said, we're too crap to make state pennant so i guess we're insignificant anyway.
good luck for next round vien.

I think so, thats the Ballarat teams 1st double pair, the team we played first round against .. we lost 4 games to 5 games to ballarat .. but we had a fairly comfortable win against their first double pair kyle and partner .. you and the thai guy so far are the only ones that got close to us in the 1st double games ... and you do play better when your angry .. even if its just a sudden surg .. your smash becomes harder .. and you run abit more chase more shots down.... and lets not even get started about the distraction your cherry red face causes the opponents.

..and a "Sammy" refers to any player that loses it on court, and continue with it long after the game is over .. its a generic term .. sporn from the infamous match of 07 in ballarat .. between Sammy&his dad Vs Vincent&Anthony :)

Greg son I'm just going to say this once more, in my old uncle Vien's voice ...
"Greg, look at me, look at me Greg .. that was in" .. and if you're saying even the spectators were calling it in then you've argue my point .. i always give the opponents the points if its a 50/50 ... but if a shuttle cork lands in the plum middle of a line .. thats a 100% in, in any language .. even in Klingon language!!!! .. and dont say i was bias against you .. cause i gave you plenty of contestable points ... so if you keep whinging about a shot that was clearly in .. uncle Vien's going to have to take of his belt .. and discipline you good :)

Yes there is one more round to go .. but you guys "Melbo Uni Blk" are in even if you somehow manage to lose to the bottom of the ladder team made up of little children (WSBA Blue) .. Mercy rule Greg tell your team to take it easy on the little kids .. no smashing :)
And we'll be playing D/Valley next round .. and we would need to beat them 8:1 or 9:0 to make it to the final .. which is a BIG ask since our biggest win so far was 7:2 against the junior WSBA Blue team... so its 3rd this year for us .. which is still a meracle for a WSBA team to finish that high .. considering we're just made up of C grade players :D

well i too am a c grade player after having been knocked out first round of b grade at jt ultra comp on sunday (if not a d grade player). i will scare the little children and show them the red face again (especially if they dare to call shuttles that were out, in). hohohohohohooho. Either that or I'll scream at them "GET IN MAH BELLY" and see them run tails between their legs out of the badminton stadium.

Oh how the mighty have fallen :) .. formerly known as Mr Nice Guy Greg, the once noble of badminton player that constantly looks down on us C graders from his perch, now claims to be one of us  ... I remember the time when Greg was the defender of rightiousness, helping old ladies across the street .. now he's beating up little kids, and pushing those same elderly ladies in from of moving buses ... He's change ... i saw someone offer him some hot chip the other day .. and he double dipped in the sauce  .. if thats not a sign of a man off the rail and on the path to the dark side of the force, I dont know what is.
This has all the hallmark of a Nemesis tainting, that cult has brain wash our little Greg, and turn him EVIL... I've heard stories about them Nemesis lot, about weird satanic ritiuals .. I heard to be a memeber of Nemesis you have to commit three acts of evil .. thats wrong .. Titan only requires two acts of evil :) .. and before every tournament they force their members to drink virgin goat blood .. geez if all they wanted was a low carb, low sugar drink they could have just gotten Coke Zero.. back in the old country we use to drink virgin goat blood cause there was no Coke Zero .. but here in Australia surely its easier to find a Coke Machine then a virgin goat
