Hopefully, when we visit there, marami ka ring ipapakain sa amin. Nakakapanibago nga, isa na lang ang ambidextrous sa club. You weren't able to play with chelle. I haven't been seeing mrpao. Hmmm. I wonder what happened to him.
I had 2 sessions with coach manny way back 2007 (cut short because of work). He charged me per session, not per hour. The length of the session depends on your stamina and/or learning capacity. Sigh! I have to wait for payday to be able to play at Flick again. I haven't played again since last week's Monday. I'll see you guys next week.
how much usually is the fee per session for the basics? I am excited to learn and to see you all play...
I was charged P150 per session, but that was almost 2 years ago. Rates can go up. Just call the number raymond posted or better yet, just visit Flick.
I learned that in other places, que masters have an idea of the skill level, though may not be exact, of those participating in the queuing. Upon registering, a newcomer will have to tell the que master what is the player's skill level, whether class ABCDE or Beginner/Intermediate/Advance etc. I think this is for matching up purposes. On my first time at Flick, I did not notice anything like this. Do they have this in Flick? Do they expect any newcomer to be anywhere in the beginner-intermediate range or the que master simply match up all players randomly, without consideration to the skill level of players?
I can't speak for the que master. But if you're going to look at the popsicle sticks where our names are written, on the right side, our levels are displayed (at least for my stick). I'm not sure how the que master mixes and matches the players, but I think he definitely considers the level of play. Since you're a first timer in the group, maybe he'd likely test your skill level first by setting you up with beginners to intermediate players. Sometimes, the que master partners beginners with advanced players. And sometimes, he sets up intermediate pairs with advanced opponents. (I think this is his way of helping players to develop their skills.) You can actually request for a hard game. I, on the other hand, just go with the flow. At least that helps me practice adjusting to different kinds of players. I have yet to complain to the que master. The match I usually get is a combination of light and hard ones.
i have no complaints with the flick queue master. every game is a hard game (kahit mixed doubles) have board meeting tom. i'll miss the queueing this time. see you next week!
The intensity of mixed doubles is totally different from men's doubles. I apply more placement in mixed. I have to figure out a way for my lady partner to get involved, to be able to kill the rally. I also have to work on my girl partner's skill assets ... e.g., if she's good at the net, I have to force the play for her to go front; if she's good at the midcourt, I need to cover everything she couldn't. In men's, I leave everything I couldn't reach. Too bad we'll not be able to play tomorrow. It's not the same with one less badminton addict on court.
I agree with you regarding the matching up for a beginner/newcomer. That's what I noticed in the five games I played the last time. I can say that there were games that were close, like pairs were evenly matched up. There was a game that I was not playing well, committed lots of unforced errors and our opponent were very good (one of which is sir eric) Our pair was clobbered but I'm not complaining at all as I'm aware that's one way for me to improve. I have nothing against playing with/against someone who's a lot better than me. Does the queue master prioritize MD or WD over XD?
Not really. I guess it depends on the availability of the players. Like if there are only 2 guys available for a game, then the que master must pull out ladies to pair for each of the guys.
hi.. new here and new in badminton world? san po ung flick? me naglalaro po ba ng friday dito? baka pede po magpaturo hihi!
Tournament in Flick Anyone on this thread joined the tournament yesterday(5/24/2009) at Flick? I joined with my son, unfortunately we were only semi-finalist. I believe we need more training. Will try to join again on June 13/14. Hope to meet some of you guys.
I wasn't able to join because I had stuff to do that day. But I really wanted to go because the owner held his brithday party that day (at least from what I heard). Too bad you didn't win. You'll get the medal next time .
