That and we should get the crowd, instead of yelling out Denmark or jia you, to yell out "Gillian, Gillian, Gillian!". :D

Concerning LCW - "Moves so smoothly around the court - like a cat ready to punce on it's prey!" :D Used that one a lot in 2010, I think.

Yep, and she pronounces is "Ger Fey" (Ge Fe). She usually puts some extra english (no pun intended) on a lot of foreign names - listen to her mention Sudket Praprakamol or Saralee Thungthongkam:D.

What about the guy who kept saying "Oo Yang" at the WC this year? *fp every time...

"A bit of a character, is Cai Yun/What a character he is, Cai Yun - underwent HEART surgery in 2001! And FOUUUR times World Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist since then..."
    Every time! :D

Haha, it's really amusing, although a bit irritating at times (like when she makes 'China Open' sound like 'Chinarropen'). Not as annoying as her -at times blatant- favoritism towards European players (especially the completely un-spectacular pairing of Adcock/Bankier - according to her, they never did anything wrong in the WC final. They were just unlucky 40 times.)
Which reminds me - did we have "He/she was trying to do the right thing"? Or "It was the right thing to do"? Both were used quite a bit in the WC XD final :D

This isn't really GCism but it's something I thought was pretty funny. I'm watching the WD in the super series masters finals today and then GC was noting how cold the stadium is, then also added in that she was wearing two pairs of socks because of it =). I had a little chuckle haha.

well, i would call imogen bankier quite spectacular, but that's another story...;)

but you're right: she's very often on the european side, definetely not neutral in her opinions. on the other hand: who says commentators have to be neutral...;)

I don't think she needs to be, but she really could call some things errors or bad shots/decisions instead of "trying to do the right thing, refusing to be backed off the net" in cases where trying the over-ambitious net shot was clearly wrong. She has no problems doing that when Koo tries it...
It's actually not bad if she's favoring one team, she'll so much more enthusiastic when they win a point, but it shouldn't affect her judgement so much imop.

"This is really their favored formation - Fu Haifeng/the tall left hander THUNdering down the smashes, and Cai Yun/his partner going forward, READing the game so well at the net..."

Just thought of another one off the back of that:

    "Right idea; wrong execution."

Why call Fu "tall"? - he and Cai are the same height!

I know. She does it anyway. No idea why :D
I find it especially funny because I could spit on both their heads - even LYD, who seems so tall in the media, was not at all big when I walked past him in the German Open. Shows you how short most badminton stars are :D
Then again, I'm not exactly average. :D

The one you are sweet on always looks taller. ;)

... and that opens another Pandora's box for the GC thread: Whom do we think she fancies?
I suspect that she likes FHF and Chen Long because she is often describing how tall and powerful they are.

I would place my bet on Ko Sung Hyun! She always gushes over him, saying what a strong athlete and remarkable he is. :)
